Not to sound dramatic, but it was quite a heart-shattering experience when we had to bid farewell to CHAGEE’s last outlet at Funan earlier this year. If you, like us, were crestfallen by their departure, you’d be stoked to hear that they’ve recently reopened in Singapore, with their first branch at orchardgateway! The popular tea brand is back bigger and better, with special opening promotions that you can enjoy till 8 August.
CHAGEE at orchardgateway officially opened their doors to the public on 2 August, with an exciting launch event that took place till 4 August. While we couldn’t wait to try their drinks, what really made us excited was the new cake menu—which we will get into soon—that’s said to be the first across all CHAGEE stores worldwide. Also, unlike the grab-and-go stores in the past, CHAGEE at orchardgateway boasts a minimalist cafe-slash-tea bar space, where patrons can chill and chat at the comfortable dine-in area.
FYI, the orchardgateway outlet is the first reopening in Singapore, but definitely not the last. You’ll be able to catch them at Plaza Singapura and Raffles City by the end of August! Â
Back to the drinks: we got to try the crowd favourite Jasmine Green Milk Tea (from $4.90), which had a lovely delicate floral aroma and smooth tea-infused milky base.Â
If you’d like to try something different, we recommend the gorgeous Da Hong Pao Snow Cap Milk Tea ($6.90). This drink comes topped with white peach fresh cream adorned with freeze-dried fig bits as the finishing touch.
In case you didn’t know, CHAGEE doesn’t use any creamer or artificially flavoured tea bases to create their drinks, so you don’t have to worry about those calories stacking up. TLDR, rest assured that you’ll get the best quality here as fresh milk and real tea leaves are used in all their beverages!
What’s special about CHAGEE’s comeback is the addition of a Tea on Tap area, where bottled Iced Oriental Teas are prepared right in front of you.Â
You’ll also spot the teapresso machine here, which is used to prepare CHAGEE’s teapresso series. The machine operates just like an espresso machine, where tea leaves instead of coffee beans are extracted.
Now, time for our favourite bit: the new CHAGEE store serves cakes to complement your choice of drink. This new cake menu is a global first, and the orchardgateway store is the pioneering store to feature it! You can also try the cakes at the upcoming Plaza Singapura and Raffles City outlets.Â
We really enjoyed the Floral Osmanthus Pandan Cake ($7.20), starring a fluffy pandan-infused sponge cake layered with osmanthus honey chantilly cream, and topped with osmanthus flowers.
Our top pick, though, was the Aromatic Jasmine Green Tea Genmaicha Cake ($7.20). The creamy mousse cake had a lovely balance of earthy and sweet flavours, and we liked that the crumbly biscuit base gave the dessert more textural variety.
To sweeten the deal, head down to their orchardgateway and enjoy their opening promotions running till 8 August! The Bundle Deal gives you a large Jasmine Green Milk Tea and Da Hong Pao Snow Cap Milk Tea for just $6.90, which is almost half the usual price of $12.80. Else, there’s also the 1-for-1 Deal, where you can get two large Jasmine Green Milk Teas for only $5.90 instead of the usual $11.80.
