Chef Wang Fried Rice: Abalone And Pork Chop Egg Fried Rice By Ex-Din Tai Fung Chef In Beo Crescent

Chef Wang Fried Rice

A dish at Din Tai Fung that’s universally loved is their egg fried rice—made better if it’s topped with shrimps or a pork cutlet, doubly so if you can get it for cheap. This is now a reality at Chef Wang Fried Rice, a new hawker stall at Beo Crescent Market that’s helmed by an ex-Din Tai Fung and Shangri La chef.

Where a plate of egg fried rice at Din Tai Fung costs nearly $10, you can get it for just $4 here at Chef Wang Fried Rice. This dish is made with pearl rice, interspersed with a healthy amount of fried egg and spring onions. If you’re a meat-lover, there’s the Pork Rib Fried Rice ($6.50), where a crispy, savoury pork chop sits on the above egg fried rice.

Meanwhile, if you prefer seafood over meat, opt for the Shrimp Fried Rice ($6.50), which comes with whole shrimp pieces. Otherwise, there’s the Abalone Fried Rice ($10), which makes for a good meal to treat yourself with.

Spice-loving readers can go for the sambal fried rice selections at Chef Wang Fried Rice, tinged red from their use of piquant, house-made sambal. It’s also said that these versions taste even better than the OG, and you have the option of adding more sambal if you wish.

Similar to the usual egg fried rice series, you can get it plain at $4.50, or with pork or shrimp at $7. The Sambal Abalone Fried Rice costs the same as its non-spicy version.
