SG’s First Chia Pudding Cafe Opens In Clarke Quay With IG-Worthy Dessert Bowls

Chia Puddies has chia pudding bowls in Clarke Quay

When I saw the granola and nut butter-covered bowls at Chia Puddies, I thought they were a new cafe selling acai bowls. Upon taking a closer look, there wasn’t an acai base; instead, each bowl was loaded with chia seed pudding. The new Clarke Quay Central store is dubbed Singapore’s first chia pudding cafe!

There are six chia pudding flavours to choose from, including mixed berries, coconut, and chocolate. A small bowl costs $10.50 for 8oz, which is about the size of a medium bowl from Project Acai. For a larger serving, opt for a medium bowl at $12.50 for 12oz, or a large bowl that costs $16 for 15oz.

You can also opt for extra toppings for an additional $2. Options include strawberries, coconut flakes, cookie butter, coconut shavings and more.

As matcha latte enthusiasts, my colleague and I started with a small size of The Matcha Bowl, which came with matcha chia pudding topped with yoghurt, granola, coconut shavings, and strawberries.

Taste-wise, this was almost like a strawberry matcha latte but in pudding form, with the earthy, grassy notes of matcha more pronounced when eaten alone, and balanced when enjoyed with the sweet-sour strawberries.

If you can’t decide what to get, we recommend The Morning Glory, featuring banana blueberry chia pudding with yoghurt, cookie butter, granola, fresh banana, and blueberries.

The consistency of the chia pudding in this bowl was thicker than the one in The Matcha Bowl as bananas and blueberries were blended with the chia pudding base. The Morning Glory was our favourite combination as the fresh blueberries paired exceptionally well with the dense chia pudding.

Moving on to something heavier on the palate, we tried The Choco Chia Bowl, which came with chocolate chia pudding, yoghurt, banana, granola, and finished with cacao nibs and cookie butter drizzle.

The rich and creamy of the pudding, paired with the slight bitterness of the cacao nibs, made for a satisfying bite. We think chocolate enthusiasts will surely enjoy this.

To quench our thirst after a series of hearty puddings, we had the Berry Bliss Smoothie and the Mango Banana Chia Smoothie, each going for $9.80. While both were tasty in their own right, our gripe was that the latter could have a more pronounced mango flavour.

FYI, all smoothies and bowls here are made with natural ingredients and no artificial additives.

Chia Puddies is a cosy six-seater cafe perfect for those dining alone or in pairs. It’s housed right above Clarke Quay MRT Station, so you don’t have to walk long to get your chia pudding fix!
