7. GOHO Kaiseki & Bar

For a very Japanese Christmas, head to GOHO Kaiseki & Bar, by the same team that brought us RAPPU and The Feather Blade. As with their usual menus, there are three for the month of December, priced at $138++, $188++, and $248++. Do note that the lowest-priced menu is only available at lunch. Alcoholic pairings are available from $58++, but the non-alcoholic version (from $38++) has our vote, with its house-made spiced teas and more.

The splurge option, AKA the Ume set, comes with 10 courses, with standout dishes including Dashi Panna Cotta in the hassun platter, where an impossibly smooth custard is topped with bacon vinaigrette, uni, and caviar. You’ll also get Awabi, AKA bincho-grilled abalone with abalone liver aioli, and Miso Butter Engawa, featuring an eggnog-inspired broth. Of course, no meal here is complete without their signature Mt. GOHO, an OTT globe of uni, caviar, toro, Wagyu, crabmeat, ikura, bonito smoke, and edible gold dust.

It’s only available on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day, but these dishes will be available on rotation a la carte for the rest of the season. If you’re coming on the festive days, the set will set you back $148++ a person, and you can enjoy this with as little as one other person.

Expect cold cuts and charcuterie in the Affettati Misti, before moving on to Tortellini in Brodo, their take on the dish from Emilia-Romagna. The other pasta dish on the menu is Corzetti Alla Norma, which stars a round, disc-like pasta native to Liguria. Then you get Chicken Porchetta, topped with crispy chicken skin, and Iberico Ham that’s glazed with Manuka honey. These come with a spread of sides, before the meal ends with Peppermint Stick Gelato Profiteroles.

Priced at $98++ a person, with a minimum of two to dine, bookmark this for Christmas date night this year end before the menu runs its course by 31 December.

Star dishes on this menu include their A5 Wagyu Pizza, which you’ve probably seen all over social media, A5 Wagyu Tataki A5 Wagyu Senbei, A5 Misuji—the grilled course, and A5 Gyu Don, AKA atas beef rice bowl. Every course of A5 Wagyu here stars beef from a different prefecture in Japan, so you’re literally eating your way across Japan, via its cows.
