Chuan Kee Seafood: Popular Old-School Zi Char In Tiong Bahru And Toa Payoh

If you’re looking for another old-school, traditional zi char spot, look no further than Chuan Kee Seafood Restaurant. The highly-rated restaurant has been around since 1975, so you know they’re legit.

What sets this restaurant apart from other typical zi char places is their service—here, customers can get free tidbits such as popcorn, ice cream, cotton candy, and even house-made tau huay. What’s more, those who opt for delivery can get free satay if they order more than $50!

Some must-try seafood dishes include their Sri Lankan Crabs (seasonal price) and Prawns (from $22++). Customers can choose their preferred cooking style for the former: think chilli crab, salted egg crab, and even cheese crab. 

Otherwise, you can also try the signature Bi Feng Tang Wok Fried Prawn ($22++), a unique dish consisting of prawns stir-fried with garlic, ginger, chilli, and breadcrumbs.

Besides seafood, Chuan Kee Restaurant also has other protein options, such as their Special Sauce Pork Ribs ($10++) and Nyonya Pork ($13++). If you prefer something spicy, the Deep Fried Diced Chicken with Dried Chilli ($12++) comes highly recommended.

Chuan Kee Seafood Restaurant often rolls out discounts on selected dishes too. They currently offer a Mini Buddha Jumps Over The Wall for $18.80++ per serving, perfect for those who want something light yet comforting. 

The zi char restaurant has two outlets island-wide, both being approximately a 16-minute walk from Tiong Bahru MRT Station and Toa Payoh MRT Stations
