From Yardbird (known as The Bird in Singapore) to Bangkok’s Say Chiizu, as well as the recent rumours about Shake Shack opening in Singapore, big F&B players from across the world love setting up shop in Singapore. As such, we’ve decided to compile a list of famous international restaurants that are opening – or have already opened – in Singapore this 2018 and 2019.
When we first heard of Rumours Bar & Grill opening in Holland Village, we thought it was the revival of the popular Rumours Nightclub – it’s not. Hailing all the way from Bali, this casual dining bar and restaurant serves up decadent sharing platters, grilled specialties and a whole lot of fun. Great to go along with their special Rumours (from $7++) beer is their Mixed Grilled Platter ($39.80++), which comes with tenderloin, lamb, chicken served with fat chips and roasted vegetables.

We love Hong Kong food, and Tsui Wah is bringing HK grub to us all! Take delight in their sweet condensed milk buns as well as tantalising Hong Kong milk tea. We hope the menu is exactly the same as the original cha chaan teng‘s, as our mouths are watering just thinking about their Crispy Pork Chop Bun, with crisp bread sandwiching crisp slices of pork chop.
Head here for future updates on Tsui Wah.

We’ve been to Man Man and Uya, and now there’s a new place in town for your unagi fix. Opening this April, Miyagawa Honten is a 125-year-old unagi speciality restaurant from Japan. The brand’s first overseas outpost will be named Ichinoji Miyagawa, and will be serving unagi in three different styles: hitsumabushi, donburi and seiro mushi. The latter is a Yanagawa-special, where grilled unagi is steamed in a bamboo steamer and doused in sauce.

While nothing is set in stone yet, BreadTalk Group is in the process of bringing Taiwanese bakery chain Wu Pao-Chun down next year. The two outlets in Taiwan always see long lines of customers, which says how good their bakes are. Highly raved about is their award-winning Litchi Rose and Taiwan Longan with Red Wine breads, which are made with millet wine and rose petals.

Thailand’s famous smoothie chain, Fruiturday, has docked at the shores of our little red dot at Northpoint City! There are 28 drinks on the menu to refresh yourself with, including a Mango Sticky Rice Shake ($6.90). The toothsome shake is said to undergo a three-hour long preparation process each morning, and comes either full blended or with chunky bits of mango.

Those in love with all things Korean must have heard of Pizza Maru. After all, it is like Korea’s very own Pizza Hut, with over 530 franchises in the country. Famous for their cheesy pizza, expect a metre-long cheese pull when you take a slice of the Real BBQ Chicago ($26.80++) that comes stuffed with double mozzarella cheese, string cheese, and cream cheese mousse. Aside from pizza, they also do decent Korean fried chicken. For something unique, get the Onion Tartar ($16.80++ for six pieces, $29.80++ for 12 pieces), where tart tartar sauce and onions top the golden wings.

Another restaurant from Korea is Nipong Naepong! Serving up jjamppong, a Chinese-Korean noodle dish, the restaurant uses noodles that are specially manufactured and come in nine unique flavours and styles. Our favourite dish there was the Vongole Ppong ($16.80++) featuring white wine, prawns, mussels and clams.
