Fried chicken fans, you’ll want in on this news. Gepuk Guys, the newest stall from the team behind Berempah Bros, has opened in Bedok North!

Officially launched in mid‑July, this new hawker stall puts a spotlight on Indonesian‑inspired gepuk: a style of turmeric‑marinated fried chicken that’s smashed slightly after frying and served with steaming hot rice.

For those unfamiliar, Berempah Bros is known for its rempah-spiced fried chicken rice sets, paired with coconut rice, house-made achar, and sambal. The hawker brand, headed by MasterChef Season 2 finalist Derek Cheong, first opened at Beauty World Food Centre earlier this year. The success of that outlet led to a rapid expansion, including their fourth outlet at Woodleigh Village Hawker Centre in June 2026.

The new Bedok stall shines the spotlight on a range of gepuk mains starting at $9.90. The Ayam Berempah Gepuk ($9.90) is a must-try here. It comes with the full works: the brand’s signature rempah-spiced fried chicken served over fragrant coconut rice, crispy fried spinach, fried egg with kicap manis, mushroom berempah, creamy cashew nut sauce, and spicy sambal.

Other protein options include Fish Berempah Gepuk ($10.90), Grilled Squid Gepuk ($10.90), and Unagi Berempah Gepuk ($14.50) for those who want something more indulgent. The most expensive item is the Duck Confit Berempah Gepuk, which goes for $16.50.

Those who love Berempah Bros can also check out the stall’s Lemak Series, featuring the brand’s signature Ayam Berempah ($7.50), Unagi Berempah and more.

If you’re still confused about the difference between the two dishes, here’s a quick crash course: Ayam berempah is spiced fried chicken marinated with a rich blend of aromatics, such as lemongrass and turmeric, and coated generously in crispy, seasoned crumbs. Ayam gepuk, on the other hand, features battered fried chicken that is lightly smashed, then dressed with a nutty sambal sauce often made from ground cashews or peanuts.

In other food news, Seoul Tofu has opened in Woodleigh, offering hearty Korean stews starring house-made tofu! Otherwise, read our ranked guide to the best burgers in Singapore if you’re craving something more indulgent.
