Move aside, Hello Kitty! Sanrio’s latest sensation, Gudetama, is now the star at Hong Kong dim sum restaurant, Dim Sum Icon. Gudetama fans all over Asia are going crazy at the sight of these terribly adorable Gudetama imprinted dim sum like custard cheese tarts, har gaos, and siew mai.
Seen that video of Gudetama ‘pooping’ chocolate from its perky little butt on YouTube? Now you can have that experience at Dim Sum Icon with these Chocolate Custard Buns (HKD 49). They also have egg yolk buns (HKD 49), if you prefer the action up front instead.
Don’t worry, this may seem like a publicity stratagem to one up other dim sum eateries in Hong Kong, but the food is decent and worth a visit with or without Gudetama.
If you’re already booking that ticket to Hong Kong and making plans to queue two hours before Dim Sum Icon opens, don’t forget to try the most adorable dessert in the house – the Gudetama egg pudding (HKD 39)!
Opening hours: Daily, 11am – 11pm
Address: L308, The ONE, 100 Nathan Road, Tsim Sha Tsui, Kowloon, Hong Kong
