Westies are in luck, because there’s a halal mookata buffet in the region that has earned many rave review. CHICE – The Original Chickata is its name, and it offers a $22.80+ per pax mookata with a choice of one soup and six “Chickata” items. These items include your classic hotpot ingredients, such as turkey bacon, beef, dory fish slices, crabsticks, and meatballs. As for the soup base, you can either have the signature Chickata Chicken Broth, or Tom Yum Soup for an additional $6.

If you don’t mind having mookata at a hawker centre, check out Sedap Thai, a steamboat stall located on the first floor of Berseh Food Centre. Beef fat is used here instead of pork lard, and you can opt for either chicken broth, or their tangy and slightly spicy tom yum broth at an additional $2. A Platter Set ($24) comes with various veggies, seafood and marinated meats, and is more than enough for two people. But if you’re feeling especially hungry, they’ve also introduced an a la carte buffet at just $22 per person.

Lukhon Thai is another great spot for halal mookata. Platters start at $26.80 for two and $45 for four people. If you’d like to add a la carte ingredients, there are plenty to choose from, including the Black Pepper Beef ($2.50), Tom Yum Chicken ($2.50), and Oyster Mushroom ($2.50). You can also add some Udon ($1.80) and Cheese Dips ($2.80), as well as their signature sweet and salty chilli sauce that’s super addictive.

Seoul Garden has seven different outlets spread across Singapore, so you won’t even have to travel far to enjoy their steamboat and BBQ buffet, which starts at $19.90++. This buffet comes with soups that are included in the buffet price, and there’s a variety to choose from, including kimchi jjigae, gingseng and abalone, a milky fish soup called saengseontang, and more. For an interesting fusion soup base, opt for the tomyum kimchi flavour.

Said to be the “first halal steamboat restaurant in Singapore”, The Buffet Restaurant in M Hotel offers Chinese-style steamboat with a tantalising range of all-you-can-eats. This year, the restaurant is offering a Iftar Fiesta Ramadan Hotpot Dinner Buffet, priced from $68++ per adult. You’ll get to choose from soup bases including mala and chicken broth, then have your fill of ingredients such as oysters, scallops, beef rolls, yong tau fu items, and more.

HahaHotpot’s offerings are what you might expect from a Sichuanese restaurant, but it has the unique advantage of being a halal-certified restaurant. Of course, you can enjoy piquant and fiery Sichuan Mala ($11.90) as your soup base, along with ingredients such as Fish Roe Ball ($5.90), New Zealand Green Mussels ($9.90), and Brisket Beef Slices ($8.90).
