Love ramen as much as we do? Kiwami, a popular Japanese restaurant with four outlets in Singapore, has an all-you-can-eat ramen buffet priced from just $28.80++ per person. Previously only available at their Guoco Tower outlet, a two-minute walk from Tanjong Pagar MRT Station, the buffet is now available at their VivoCity restaurant!
You get to try eight kinds of ramen, sides and more, all at unlimited portions. We’ve been to all kinds of buffets in Singapore, but a ramen buffet was a first for us, so we were intrigued by what the restaurant had to offer.
Before we get into the food, do note that all mains are served in half-sized portions. In hindsight, this was a better idea as it meant we could try a variety without worrying about waste.
As for mains, there are eight ramen and two fried rice dishes available. Out of the eight ramen flavours, we tried a total of six.
For something classic, we recommend the Premium Kiwami Tonkotsu Ramen, made with a 10-hour pork bone broth that’s rich and creamy.
The noodles are the same noodles no matter what you order—springy with a bit of a chew, and thin enough to absorb the flavours of the broth without falling apart.
Alternatively, the Premium Black Tonkotsu Ramen is an elevated version of the previous ramen, made with garlic oil and topped with crispy fried garlic bits instead.
Spice lovers can get more of the Premium Mala Ramen, featuring a spicy and mildly numbing chilli oil broth.
The spicy soup paired really well with the thick, tender chashu pieces that became a tad greasy over time.
There’s also the Premium Yuzu Ramen, which features a different broth from the rest. Unlike its milky and creamy counterpart, the yuzu ramen broth is clear with a tangy and fragrant aftertaste.
There are two dry noodle options too, and we went for the Chicken Nanban Mazesoba. This vibrant dish comprises a bed of noodles topped with a raw egg yolk, fried shallots, shredded seaweed, fried corn kernels, black fungus, and deep-fried chicken chunks topped with tartar sauce.
Every bowl comes with a few huge chicken nanban pieces that will surely fill you up in no time. After giving the ingredients a good mix, we noticed a special house-made sauce within, which made the overall dish taste like takoyaki—if that’s your kind of flavour.
Besides the mains, the buffet also includes 10 side dishes, which you can enjoy as much as you can stomach.
Of the lot we tried, the Hokkaido Organic Potato with Mentaiko Cheese Mayo was one of our favourites as it complemented the mains well. We also liked that the mentaiko sauce remained creamy despite being left out for some time.
We equally enjoyed the deep-fried Age Tofu, which had a crispy exterior against a soft, crumbly interior packed with veggies.
There are Grilled Gyoza, Truffle Edamame, and Plant-based Truffle Katsu among many other sides, so try one of each to see what you like.
FYI, the buffet also includes drinks and desserts for the complete experience. The sweet-zesty Cranberry Lemonade is great as a thirst quencher, while a hot cup of Genmai Tea is perfect for washing down all the heavy flavours.
Round off your meal with some ice cream in Vanilla and Matcha flavours.
The ramen buffet is available from Monday to Friday, 5pm onwards. Do note that there’s a 90-minute dining limit.
