Hawkers’ Street Food Court Opens In Chinatown With 9 Popular Stalls

New Hawkers’ Street opens at Chinatown Point

Chinatown is practically synonymous with hawker food, but that usually means dealing with the heat, crowds, and stalls that call it a day by mid-afternoon. Now, you can get your hawker fix in air-conditioned comfort at Hawkers’ Street, a new food court at Chinatown Point, just a stone’s throw from Chinatown MRT Station.

If the name sounds familiar, that’s because Hawkers’ Street has been popping up across Singapore with mall-based outposts featuring familiar hawker names. Its Tang Plaza outlet follows the same concept, and the new Chinatown location brings together nine stalls spanning everything from supper favourites to noodles and roast meats.

One of the biggest draws is Beach Road Scissors Cut Curry Rice, a Jalan Besar favourite known for its curry-soaked rice, braised gravy and pork chop snipped into bite-sized pieces with scissors. It’s messy, hearty and exactly the sort of comfort food we’d make a trip for.

Noodle fans have plenty to choose from too. Hokkien Man Hokkien Mee brings its wok-fried noodles from Toa Payoh, while 545 Whampoa Prawn Noodle serves hae mee in a robust, savoury broth.

For bak chor mee, there’s Famous Eunos Bak Chor Mee, known for its tangy, vinegar-laced noodles, while the popular Top 1 Home Made Noodle from Beauty World serves handmade ban mian.

The lineup also includes Hwa Heng Beef Noodle, which regulars of Hawkers’ Street Tang Plaza may recognise, Pang’s Hakka Yong Tau Foo for something lighter, and Tien Lai Roast Delights for roast meats with rice. Wash it all down with a kopi from Hill Street Coffee Shop.
