Update: Humble Bakery has moved to a new space in Raffles Place.
Yet another bakery started by ex-Bakery Brera patissiers, Humble Bakery has been making waves in the online bakery space for their artisanal scones. While owners Glenn and Guan are quick to declare the scones ugly-cute, the duo takes pride in using only premium AOP—Appellation d’Origine Protégée, which is the highest standard of French quality certification—butter and whipping cream from France.
Whether you have a date for Valentine’s Day, or you just want to celebrate in solitude, Humble Bakery’s scones are just what you need. Featuring a mix of bestselling and seasonal scones, the Humble in Love Box ($23.90) gets you six Korean-style scones.
Try the classic Double Chocolate Kaffir Lime Scone, which incorporates Callebaut 54.5% dark chocolate with sliced kaffir lime leaves. The result is a decadent and fudgy scone, brightened with the fragrance of citrus.
A V-Day special, the Strawberry Cream Cheese Scone sees the original scone filled with house-made Korean strawberry jam. The buttery delight, which has a tender centre, is then topped with a cream cheese frosting, reminiscent of a strawberry shortcake but in scone form.
The Oolong Raspberry Scone is stippled with flecks of ground Taiwanese Oolong tea, with a jam-filled centre. The house-made raspberry jam is tangy, while the seeds within add texture to each bite.
Other than these, the box also contains one each of the Original Scone, a twice-infused Earl Grey & Fig Scone, as well as a Lychee Rose Scone, that is perfumed with rosewater and embellished with lychee pieces.
Humble Bakery also has whole cakes that are perfect for birthdays and other special occasions. Get their Rose & Strawberry Basque Burnt Cheesecake ($57 for nine-inch), for a rose-infused gooey cheesecake that comes garnished with rose petals and a tangy strawberry compote.
Before you head down to their shop, however, do note that Humble Bakery does not take walk-in customers. Patrons that wish to get their hands on the baked goods will have to either pre-order two days in advance for self-collection at the store.Â
Alternatively, customers can also submit their orders before 12pm for next-day delivery. Delivery is charged at a flat rate of $10 islandwide—except to Sentosa and Tuas—and is waived for larger orders above $100.
