I know IKEA is the go-to place to get affordable furniture. But honestly, I think some of us frequent the store more for their snacks than to get a new shelf or couch. With the wide array of food options, it can be quite daunting to figure out which ones are worth buying. So here are our top picks for the best IKEA snacks you must try!

It goes without saying that the Swedish Meatballs ($7.50 for 8 pieces) should go on this list as it is the iconic dish that best represents the Swedish restaurant. This classic dish consists of juicy pork and beef meatballs with mashed potatoes drizzled in a velvety, umami-rich gravy, and served with mixed vegetables and lingonberry jam on the side.

Another classic pick would be the Chicken Wings (from $4 for two pieces). We loved the fragrant batter with a nice char on every wing. These were also super juicy even though they were left sitting on the counter for some time. They can become quite greasy after a while, but it’s definitely worth the calories on your cheat day.

IMO, this Cheese Tart ($3.50) is a must-order on every visit to the IKEA restaurant. Upon the first bite, the creamy cheese filling flowed into our mouths. This milky cheese filling was a great contrast to the crumbly and buttery tart crust too! A word of caution: they can be really hot when served straight from the oven, so take your time to enjoy this treat.

Here’s a special shout-out to the bakery section of the Swedish Bistro at IKEA Tampines and JEM. This Chocolate and Nut Plait ($1.80) was our favourite among the various pastries! We liked the moist chocolate sauce filling a lot. Also, we enjoyed the combination of chocolatey and nutty flavours with a great balance of sweetness and bitterness.

For some drinks to go with your snacks, we recommend trying the Kullamust Juice ($2.20) from the Swedish market, which is traditionally made at Kullaberg in Sweden. We got the one flavoured with strawberry juice and a pinch of cardamom. Funnily enough, we found this to be similar to the apple juice served on planes. It is definitely a must-get if you are going for something different from the regular store-bought apple juice.

Snack options are aplenty at IKEA. Other than the classic meatballs and chicken wings, there are many more tidbits to try. And with the menu changing periodically, you are almost guaranteed to eat something different every visit.
