Hidden on the second floor of a Bandar JB shophouse, Sunday Morning Coffee Shop is a Japanese-inspired cafe with light bites, coffee, and desserts. The cafe is usually quiet on weekdays, and we recommend sitting at the tables by the window with a good book. Here, you’ll find a few select mains, including Japanese Curry Rice (RM24), Curry Udon (RM24), and Mentaiko Udon (RM34). The cafe also offers drip coffee from RM13 and lattes from RM14.

Hiritsu Coffee Roastery is built for people-watching. The hand-brew bar puts the baristas front and centre—from grinding to blooming to the slow spiral of water—and the environment is tranquil enough for striking up conversations if you’re feeling sociable enough. The cafe’s Shaddock Gathered Coffee (RM18+)—a citrusy, layered cold coffee drink—is the most talked-about item on the menu. Pair it with the Bring Me Go Croffle (RM22+), featuring a crispy croffle topped with vanilla ice cream, a finger biscuit, and a drizzle of chocolate sauce.

Keijometo needs little introduction—the TikTok-famous industrial cafe at Taman Melodies has become one of JB’s most recognisable spots. Its fully concrete exterior follows through inside with bare walls, concrete tables, and minimal furnishings that give it a raw, art gallery-like vibe. Counter seating along the window is the best spot in the house if you’re visiting solo.
The menu leans Japanese, with dishes such as the Salmon Ochazuke (RM30++): grilled salmon with sea salt flakes and seaweed powder over short-grain rice, served with a cup of matcha-based broth to pour over the dish. If you’re here for brunch, we recommend the Mentaiko Tamagoyaki Sando (RM20++), comprising crumb-coated egg patties in between thick white toast.

Cool Coffee Project is a micro-roastery tucked inside a working car workshop near Mount Austin. Fun fact: like a Japanese sake bar, you get to enjoy your brew in ceramic cups of your choosing, which are all handmade by the owner! Here, counter seats face the baristas directly, making the cafe an ideal spot for solo visits where watching the pour-over process is half the experience. Pair your coffee with their house desserts, including Canele (RM12), Tiramisu (RM35), and Japanese Cheesecake (RM19).

Bev C’afe sits on the second floor inside a clothing store in JB City Centre—an unlikely pairing that somehow produces a solid solo spot. The industrial vibe keeps things low-key, with small individual tables better suited for one than large groups. The cafe is also close enough to Sunday Morning Coffee Shop, so you can visit both in a single morning.
Drinks-wise, there’s the Iced Charcoal Latte (RM14+) that’s popular for its striking jet-black colour, as well as the refreshing Sparkling Cascara Espresso (RM15+), which is made with the dried skin of coffee cherries. The Lei Cha Cake (RM16+) is also worth ordering—it’s a Southeast Asian-influenced dessert which has a piquant herbal taste tempered with sweet peanuts.

Rowan & Parsley is the furthest entry on this list at around 30 minutes from the checkpoint, but it’s worth every minute of the extra Grab fare on a slow day. The space has a sprawling outdoor garden where nobody gives a solo diner a second glance, and big tables feel fine with just you at them. There’s also enough shade, and the surrounding greenery does most of the work of making you feel like you’ve actually left Singapore.
They’re all about brunch plates here—the Big Brother Benedict (RM48+) gets you tender beef cubes and two poached eggs on toasted English muffins, topped with a dollop of Hollandaise sauce. Pasta fans can consider the Creamy Tomato Prawn Linguine (RM32+), starring al dente pasta in a tomato cream sauce, topped with fresh prawns.

Space Cafe‘s futuristic interiors—all curves, metallic tones, and mood lighting—make it one of the more visually striking cafes in JB, and the hotel-adjacent setting gives it enough ambient background noise to feel comfortable on your own without being overwhelming. Plus, it pairs well with a KSL City Mall run next door: shop first, then settle in and grab a cup of Caramel Biscotti Coffee (RM18+), which comes with house-made honeycomb candy. Then, get the Blueberry Danish (RM7+) and Viennois Red Bean Butter (RM6+) to round things out

The Brew Orchestra is a music-themed cafe with individual seats arranged like concert stalls and a drinks menu built around the concept. Background jazz plays at a volume that’s present but not intrusive—a chill setup that works well for solo visits.
The brew bar offers pour-over coffee and cold brew alongside signature drinks at RM18, with flavours such as Pistachio Dirty, Dirty Coconut, and Coco Land. For light bites, the waffles are the main draw—the Chocolate Banana (RM24) and Matcha Chocolate (RM26) are popular, but the Tiramisu Waffle (RM32) is the one worth ordering, topped with vanilla ice cream, mascarpone cheese, coffee, and a hint of rum.

Principle Reserve has colonial-inspired interiors with warm wood tones, high ceilings, and a calm atmosphere that’s good for sitting with your thoughts. The menu does proper single-portion mains, making it a good lunch stop for solo visitors. Nothing here requires halving or sharing. Based on online reviews, the cafe’s RES (RM25.90++) is the one to get, featuring rosti, eggs, and smoked salmon on one plate, or you can go for their Gochujang Sourdough Pizza (RM45.90++) or Kombu Mushroom Pasta (RM29.90++) for something different.

KACJ Coffee is a minimalist cafe in Taman Pelangi, about a 10-minute drive from JB Customs. White walls, muted wood furnishings, and cement flooring make it the kind of pared-back space that’s easy to settle into on your own. Their breads are made fresh daily at their in-house bakery. The Sea Salt Butter Roll (RM5.90) is a decent snack, but the Yam Mochi Toast (RM11) is the more interesting order: toasted bread loaded with stretchy mochi and creamy yam paste. On the drinks side, there’s the Iced Oat White (RM17) for coffee addicts, and the Iced Hojicha Latte (RM17) for something non-caffeinated.

Meow Me Cat House isn’t your typical cat cafe—there’s no cover charge, just a minimum spend of RM8 to get a seat. The cats roam freely throughout the cafe, making it an easy solo stop if you want some company without the conversation. Their Tiramisu Latte (RM17) is the drink to order, featuring an iced latte topped with mascarpone cream, cocoa powder, and ladyfingers. If you prefer something refreshing, the Fizzy Orange Americano (RM17) pairs a layer of orange juice with a strong Americano for a zesty hit. They also have a seasonal dessert menu.

Slow Day Cafe in Mount Austin specialises in matcha, hojicha, and genmaicha. It doubles as an art-jamming studio, with customer artwork covering the walls and canvases available to use at your own pace. The Strawberry Matcha (RM17.90) layers strawberry compote, fresh milk, and a matcha shot, while the Cold Matcha Espresso (RM17.90) is for those who prefer their matcha latte extra gao. For food, the Genmaicha Nama Gateau Cake (RM28 per slice) is a standout, boasting an aromatic nuttiness and hints of roasted brown rice.
