Our local pasar malam and food festivals are often where you can find the craziest, most viral snacks that just aren’t available anywhere else. Here’s some good news for the Westies: there is a huge pasar malam right outside the former JCube, near Jurong East MRT Station. It will only be running from now till 22 September 2024 so head down ASAP!

The first stall that’s a must-visit is Kunafa Tak Viral. Here you can try the dessert that has taken the internet by storm, the kunafa, which is a rendition of a popular Turkish dessert. The mouthwatering dessert, layered with filo pastry, comes in flavours such as the OG Milk Chocolate ($10), Biscoff ($14), and Pistachio ($13).

Another popular dessert you can try at the fair is tanghulu, sold at Bingtanghulu. The sugar-coated skewered treats come in various fruits, including Shine Muscat grapes and strawberries.

To beat the heat, there’s a selection of refreshing fruit-based teas at Bang Lemon Tea such as Lemon Green Tea ($4).

If you’re feeling adventurous, go for more interesting renditions such as Coriander Black Tea ($5) and Bitter Gourd Green Tea ($5)

If fruit teas aren’t your thing, the cult-classic Ah Moi Thai Tea has also set up shop here, selling their signature Thai Milk Tea ($4).

Next on our list is a stall selling Korean Spicy Egg Roll Noodles ($6). The roll consists of spicy Samyang noodles, rolled into an egg omelette, with a slice of cheese and a sausage. To this, you can add on ham, chicken floss, crabstick and even more cheese if you want.

Another savoury snack you can go for is the Birria Tacos at Killaz Birria Tacos. If you didn’t know, these tacos come with a meaty broth for you to dip your tacos in for extra umami. Choose from Chicken ($18), Beef ($20) and Lamb ($22).

These are just a few of the many munchies you can get at this night market in Jurong East. You can also expect stalls selling kebabs, corn cheese, takoyaki, satay, vadai and many more other snacks.
