Keng Eng Kee Seafood Opens In Punggol With Quirky “MRT” And “ERP” Decor

Keng Eng Kee Seafood has new Punggol Restaurant

Keng Eng Kee Seafood is zi char royalty at this point. The restaurant has garnered plenty of acclaim over its 50-year history, including consecutive Michelin Plates and a recommendation from the late Anthony Bourdain. Its success led to the opening of its second outlet in Tampines last year, and now, Keng Eng Kee has opened its third restaurant in SAFRA Punggol.

This upcoming outlet sports an interesting interior design. With different sections of the restaurant made to look like ERP gantries, MRT stations…

…and even old bus stops. You’ll be enjoying the restaurant’s signature zi char dishes amid these unmistakably local sights.

Keng Eng Kee Seafood Punggol will have a few outlet exclusives, such as the Grilled Assorted Seafood with KEK Homemade Sauce ($32.80+), featuring fresh tiger prawns, clams, mushrooms, and vermicelli slathered in KEK Seafood’s signature garlicky sauce.

Do not miss out on the Keng Eng Kee Seafood’ spin on their classic moonlight hor fun, the Sizzling Claypot Moonlight Horfun ($15.80+) . Served in a crackling claypot, this dish sees smoky hor fun mixed with dark soy sauce, lup cheong, prawns, sliced fish, and raw eggs to great effect.

Another must-try claypot dish is the Claypot Pig Liver ($21.80+). Featuring fresh and juicy slices of pig liver cooked to smoky perfection in a claypot, this dish is usually mixed with rice to soak up all the flavours and make the dish more substantial.

While the restaurant is more known for its coffee pork ribs, the Marmite Chicken ($15.80+) is a great alternative. Each piece of chicken here is fried till crispy on the outside and juicy on the inside, and is coated with a sweet and savoury marmite-based sauce.

Last but not least, be sure to check out some of Keng Eng Kee Seafood’s crab dishes, too. The Chilli Crab Meat with Fried Buns (from $40.80+) is a convenient way to have the crustacean, where deshelled lashings of crab are paired with sweet and piquant chilli sauce. Don’t forget to dunk the crispy mantou buns into the chilli to soak up all that flavourful goodness!
