Johor Bahru (JB) foodies have a reason to plan a trip this weekend: Kenjo Bakery is a highly rated bread shop with two outlets, known for its Asian-inspired, Taiwanese-Japanese bakes. While the bakery isn’t new, it’s been trending online for its consistently delicious and affordable offerings.

The current exchange rate is RM1 = ~S$0.32 as of 15 June 2026.

Its OG bakery in Austin Crest has earned an impressive 4.8-star rating from over 1,000 Google reviews, while the newer Taman Melodies outlet boasts a 4.9-star rating from over 300 reviews. The latter is just a 10-minute drive from the CIQ, making it an ideal pit stop to da bao bread back to Singapore for friends or family.

For bagel lovers, the Purple Sweet Potato Bagel (RM8.50) is a must-try, offering a subtly sweet, earthy twist, while the Original Bagel (RM6.50) keeps things simple and satisfying. These bagels are reminiscent of the ones at Pawa Bakery—soft, fluffy, Asian-style bagels that are lighter than the New York classic—making them a hit with both locals and Singaporeans.

Other highlights include the Red Bean Butter Roll (RM7.90), where freshly baked shio pan sandwiches a thick slab of butter and sweet red bean paste, and the Fleur de Sel Butter Roll (RM5.30): classic salt bread made with French butter. For something more unique, try the Purple Sweet Potato Mochi Shio Pan (price TBD), which layers creamy sweet potato paste and chewy mochi.

Pastry fans can indulge in the Cheese Sausage Croissant (RM9.50) or the fruity Berries Custard (RM6.70), a Danish pastry topped with sweet custard and fresh berries.

Both outlets offer dine-in seating, with coffee and tea to pair with your baked goods. Expect regular cafe favourites including Cafe Latte (from RM12) and Long Black (from RM11), alongside more indulgent options such as Strawberry Latte (RM16) and Aussie Iced Coffee (RM18), where an iced latte is topped with a scoop of ice cream for an extra treat.
