Salted egg yolk has gone from being a huge trend to a household flavour, surfacing across local snacks, desserts, dim sum, and more recently, fast food. KFC’s Goldspice Salted Egg Fried Chicken has returned for a limited time only, so if you’re a self-professed salted egg yolk lover, you’ll want to take note.
The Goldspice Salted Egg Fried Chicken is a seasonal special that has appeared on the KFC menu since 2018. Each time it appears, it sells out really quickly as well.
This year, it’s available from 19 April to 30 May at KFC outlets islandwide. You can get the chicken from $4.50 ala carte, or from $10.30  when you purchase it as a meal.Â
The latter comes with two pieces of Goldspice Chicken, one regular Whipped Potato, one regular Coleslaw and one regular Sjora Mango Peach drink.
For those who’ve never tried the KFC Goldspice Salted Egg Fried Chicken, here’s what you can expect: signature KFC Hot & Cripsy Chicken, coated in a blend of salted egg, aromatic curry leaves, fiery chillies, and a tint of sweet basil, all of which make each piece that much more fragrant. The skin is fried till crisp, while the spicy marinated chicken meat within stays moist—all the hallmarks of top-tier fried chicken.
If you’re concerned about spice levels, don’t worry. We found the chicken to be definitely tolerable for even the lowest of spice tolerances.
KFC is also making the re-introduction of their Goldspice Salted Egg Fried Chicken fun with the launch of a competition to find the new star of KFC.
Dubbed the Singapore’s Best Biter campaign, the brand is on the lookout for a fresh face to star in their upcoming promotions. There are no laborious auditions involved in the selection process. All you have to do to kickstart your path to stardom is upload a video of yourself digging into KFC fried chicken via Instagram Reels. The video has to be a minimum of 30 seconds long.
Be sure to tag #SGBestBiter and @KFC_SG, and have your friends like the post. Show KFC what you’ve got, and you just might be selected to be a star of KFC.
The challenge ends on 14 May 2023. You can take a look at a sample here:
