Kok Sen Restaurant is no stranger in Singapore’s zi char scene. The famous eatery, established over 50 years ago, has earned the Michelin Bib Gourmand for eight consecutive years, including 2024! They’ve recently announced the opening of their second outlet at City Square Mall.

Their new outlet is a short walk from Farrer Park MRT Station. It soft launches on 15 December 2024, and officially opens on 11 January 2025.

Besides their signature zi char dishes, fans can expect new and exclusive items on the menu, including Smoked Tea Duck (price TBD) and Original Big Prawn Noodle Soup (price TBD). The former features a duck that undergoes 10 hours of preparation—marinated, air-dried, smoked, and then deep-fried—while the latter is a family recipe that’s been around for three generations.

If you’d like to stick to the classics, you won’t go wrong with Kok Sen’s Big Prawns Hor Fun ($19/$38/$57). This main stars thick rice noodles that are packed with wok hei, doused in a flavourful gravy with silky egg swirls. Crowning the dish are huge prawns that are lightly charred, as well as kai lan to cut through the richness.

Another must-try is the Claypot Yong Tau Foo ($15/$23/$30), where yong tau foo pieces are stuffed with house-made prawn paste, and then cooked in a claypot that’s brimming with a meaty, bubbling sauce.

If you’re visiting them in the new year, don’t miss out on their opening promotion. From 13 January to 15 January 2025, be one of the first 100 guests each day to enjoy a free bowl of the Big Prawn Hor Fun. Diners are encouraged to donate directly to ARC Children’s Centre in exchange.
