At first blush, fish and chips may seem like a simple dish to whip up—after all, it’s a classic that mainly comprises battered and fried fish alongside a side of chips, and of course, the must-have tartar sauce. But it takes a great deal to master the culinary craft of making legit fish and chips, and you’ll understand why upon visiting Lad & Co. They have been dubbed the best fish and chips restaurant in town, and are just a stone’s throw away from Orchard Boulevard MRT Station.

Their Fish & Chips comes in either a small ($19.90+) or large ($29.90+). The beer-battered, deep-fried fillets come with a side of fries and two house-made condiments. For the former, you can choose between a thick or thin cut. As for the latter, you can pick two out of the three condiments available: Mushy Peas, Tartar Sauce, and Curry Sauce.

Another must-try is the classic British Bangers & Mash, a delectable dish comprising pork sausages, mashed potatoes, and beef gravy. It’s priced at $18.90+ for two pieces of pork sausages, and $28.90+ for four.

Their Scotch Egg ($11.90+) follows a traditional style of coating a boiled egg in pork sausage meat, and a crispy outer layer of bread crumbs. Needless to say, the highlight of this good Scotch egg has got to be the soft and jammy egg yolk in the core of the deep-fried snack.

Their Pigs In Blankets ($13.90+) is another great sharing dish to have with your friends and family. Each stick comes with three cocktail pork sausages wrapped in smoked bacon, and glazed in maple syrup.

Seafood lovers can indulge in their “Scampi” Nuggets ($17.90+) or Oyster Nuggets ($17.90+). Just think fish and chips, but in the form of prawns and oysters without a side of fries. They are also best enjoyed with tartar sauce!
