There’s no shortage of dim sum spots in Singapore, but halal options are harder to come by. CBD folk now have one more place to bookmark: Loong Dim Sum, along North Canal Road in Boat Quay!

The restaurant spans a whopping four storeys and sports a modern, Chinese-inspired decor. There’s even a large event space on the top floor for private bookings.

Their dim sum options start with the classic Siew Mai with Caviar ($7.80++) and Har Gow ($7.80++), but you’ll almost always want to go for the Loong’s Signature Juicy Bao ($9.90++)—a humongous xiao long bao stuffed with seafood, chicken, and ultra-flavourful broth.

The more affordable options are the Lor Mai Kai ($4.80++) and Stuffed Beancurd Roll ($5.80++), but those willing to splurge can go for the Loong’s Premium Beef Siew Mai with Caviar ($20.80++).

For fried dim sum, you’ll find much more inventive offerings here. The Lobster Broth Pumpkin Dumpling ($8.80++) features a cute little dropper that “injects” the broth into the fried dumpling.

You’ll also find a quintessentially Singaporean twist on the yam puff—my personal favourite—with the Chilli Crab Yam Dumpling ($9.90). Other unique items include Tiger Prawn Crispy Rolls with Mint Sauce ($7.20) and the Unagi Cheese Roll ($8.80).

Can’t decide which dim sum to go for? The restaurant has a Curated Course Menu, where at $38.80++, you’ll get a slew of eight dim sum, including their Signature Juicy Bao.

To fill up on mains, get their Loong’s Slow Braised Beef Tendon ($18++) that’s braised for hours in a piquant marinade, or the classic zi char dish, Cereal Butter Tiger Prawns ($19.80++).

Those coming in groups, don’t miss out on the Op Rib Steak ($168++)—a boneless 1.4kg tomahawk steak that feeds four, or the tender and juicy Loong’s Lamb Rack ($88++) that’s served with a spicy tangerine sauce.

Loong’s Dim Sum is located along North Canal Road, a seven-minute walk from Clarke Quay MRT Station and a six-minute walk from Raffles Place MRT Station.
