This August, LUNA, a popular homegrown patisserie celebrated for their visually stunning cakes and pastries, has unveiled its latest cafe venture: Lucine by LUNA! Located at 111 Somerset, this new cafe serves hot savouries and a range of drinks, on top of the sweet entremets they are known for.
Unlike its sister patisserie, Lucine by LUNA features an exclusive selection of toasted sourdough and brioche sandwiches, salads, and light bites.
If you’d like to try their sandwiches, we suggest you go for either the Tofu Katsu ($10.90++) with panko-crusted tofu cutlet and spicy sriracha mayo, and the Grilled Cheese ($12.90++) with a triple threat of mozzarella, cheddar, parmesan. Both are chef’s recommendations!Â
Other picks include the Spam & Cheese ($10.90++) with thick-cut chicken spam and cheddar, as well as the Hamburg Steak ($13.90++) with juicy seared minced beef and onions. Each sandwich is served with a side of mixed greens salad, with the option to add on tater tots ($2).Â
For breakfast lovers, there’s also a customisable All Day Breakfast (from $8.90++), where sunshine-yellow soft-scrambled eggs are served with toasted sourdough and a side of fresh salad greens. For extra sustenance, add-ons such as tater tots, sauteed garlic mushrooms, creamed spinach and chicken sausage are available from $2 onwards. Else, you could also try their homemade Mushroom Soup ($8.90++), made with four types of mushrooms—shiitake, oyster, shimeji porcini—and served with a slice of toasted sourdough.
The dessert menu features the entire range of cakes and pastries from LUNA. This includes Blossom ($8.50++), a dainty elderflower composed using strawberry yoghurt mousse, curd and compote, rose sponge, feuilletine crunch, and pink chocolate spray; Pistachio Roulade ($8.80++), a soft chiffon sponge doubly topped and filled with fragrant pistachio cream, sliced pistachios and tangy raspberry compote; as well as Citrus Tart ($8.50++), which is a refreshingly tangy lime curd, orange confit and vanilla sponge in a vanilla tart shell, topped with silky Chantilly cream.
If you’re not yet spoiled by the dessert choices, fret not—there are even more sweet treats! Apart from the usual coffee and tea options, Lucine by LUNA also serves uniquely flavoured lattes such as Tiramisu, Peanut Butter, and Black Sesame at $8.50++ each!
