MADLYGOOD Has New Waffle Ice Cream Sandwiches From Just $10.50

MADLYGOOD Waffle Sandwiches at JCube

The thought of being able to have ice cream and waffles while on the move sounded like a pipe dream until I got my hands on the MADLYGOOD Wafflewich.

This new menu item from the JCube cafe combines two of their specialities — gelato and waffles — to create a waffle sandwich that lets you enjoy a cold, sugary sweet treat while roaming around the Jurong-based mall.

Available for takeaway only, the MADLYGOOD Wafflewich comes in two flavours. The Original Buttermilk ($10.50) sees two fluffy, generous waffle squares hugging a scoop of gelato in your preferred flavour, then topped with a chocolate or caramel sauce, and a sprinkle of crunchy granola.

They also have the Muddy Chocolate ($13.50), where fragrant dark chocolate waffles are used instead of the original buttermilk recipe. You can top-up an additional $1 if you would like their premium gelato flavours in your wafflewich instead.

Both orders are served in cardboard sleeves, and with a disposable spoon. You are meant to eat the gelato first, and as the gelato melts, the ice cream soaks into the waffle, making the crust softer in the best way possible. This is obviously a bit of a messy affair, so have tissues handy if you’re a slow eater. The little spills here and there are worth it if you are a major #TeamSoggyFood fan, as the waffles get extra dense when they absorb the ice cream.

If you prefer to dine-in, MADLYGOOD does have limited seating available, and a full menu of desserts for you to pore over. I’m going to warn you: as a big dessert person, I was spoiled for choice for a good ten minutes.

Their waffles come in a few different flavours, including cinnamon and peanut butter, all plated with fruit toppings. Prices start at $10.50 for the Original Buttermilk, though this comes without gelato, so you’re better off getting the Wafflewich if you’d like to save a dollar or two while enjoying the best of both worlds.

If you are there with friends and would like to chill out, go for the Greedy Waffles Platter ($24.90), an XXL serving of MADLYGOOD’s waffles that easily feeds four to five people. You get four of their signature waffle flavours, each paired with a sauce, and a side of fresh bananas and berries. Adding gelato to the mix is an extra $3, or $4 for the premium flavour.

For a midday snack, they also serve Milkshakes blended with their housemade ice cream, and Floats, though these come with coffee, matcha or iced chocolate topped with gelato. These start at $9.50.

The next time you’re in Jurong in need of a sugar rush, MADLYGOOD makes for a great option if it’s ice cream, waffles or milkshakes you want. Now, with the new Wafflewich, you have an easy takeaway choice too.
