Wonton mee fans, we’ve got some great news for you: the legendary Hong Kong restaurant Mak Man Kee Noodle Shop is set to land in Singapore on 18 July 2025! You’ll be able to try it at Joy Luck Teahouse’s new dine-in spot, tucked inside Food Republic at Causeway Point.
Mak Man Kee is one of the most famous names in Hong Kong’s wonton mee scene. A constant fixture on the Michelin Bib Gourmand lists, locals and tourists alike have flocked to the eatery for its springy noodles and humongous wontons.
There will be a few tweaks to Mak Man Kee’s recipe at Joy Luck Teahouse. Because the new dine-in outlet is Muslim-friendly, the soup, originally made with pork bones and cured ham in Hong Kong, will now be prepared with chicken bones, shrimp shells, and dried flounder instead. Also, while the original has noodles made with duck eggs, this SG version will use chicken eggs instead.
The iconic wontons filled with prawns, however, will be carried over. Fingers crossed they’re just as juicy and chunky as the ones in Hong Kong.
So far, we’ve heard that the menu will include the likes of Wonton Noodles ($9.80), Prawn and Chicken Wonton Noodles ($8.80), and Zha Jiang Mian ($8.80). We’ll update this article as soon as we get more information about this exciting launch!
