Vegetarian and vegan restaurants are getting more popular these days, but they’re not always the cheapest. Whether you’re trying to go green by consuming less meat, or you’re going meatless by choice, consider visiting Makan Vegan for your next meal. Located along Geylang Road, the eatery is said to be Singapore’s first and only all-vegan coffeeshop!

Makan Vegan has multiple stalls across the island, including in Tanglin Halt and Toa Payoh. This Geylang branch, which officially opened on 6 February 2022, is the brand’s first coffeeshop venture. There are four food stalls and one drinks stall, so you can indulge in a wholesome plant-based meal without breaking the bank, under one roof.

Priced at $4.50, the Wanton Noodle is a value-for-money pick if you’re unsure what to order. Tossed in a slightly sweet sauce, the QQ noodles come with charred vegetarian ‘char siew’, leafy greens, and meatless dumplings on the side.

Mala fans will also be pleased to know that there’s a vegan mala stall here. Prices start at $2 for 100g, and you get to choose from four levels of spice.
Another must-try is the Roasted G’ken Rice ($5.80), a meat-free version of Singapore’s favourite hawker dish, chicken rice.
For drinks, plant-based milk is used instead of dairy. Both traditional teh and kopi options, as well as bubble tea are available, with prices starting at $1.30 for a cup of Teh O Kosong. Try the Kopi-Oat ($2.30), which uses oat milk in replacement of condensed or evaporated milk. Bubble tea options are also offered here, and are priced affordably from $2.30.
