McDonald’s Has A New Hainanese Chicken Burger, Crisscut Fries And Banana Pie Are Back

McDonald’s new Hainanese Chicken burger

One of Singapore’s most prominent national dishes is chicken rice, so it’s only fitting that, for National Day, McDonald’s pays tribute to this by launching their new local exclusive Hainanese Chicken Rice burger on 5 August.

Made in collaboration with celebrity chef Ben Yeo, this burger pays homage to Ben’s passion for local food, and Hainanese chicken rice.

Each burger comes with a fluffy bun, sandwiching a thick and juicy, fried chicken patty, which is then dressed with a trio of sauces. These sauces are exactly what you’d pour over your own chicken rice: garlic chilli, ginger sauce, and a packet of dark sweet sauce that you can drizzle over the whole burger if you wish.

Fresh lettuce and a slaw gives every mouthful some freshness, cutting through the rich, aromatic chicken.

The burger is priced at $6.60 ala carte, and from $8.30 in an Extra-Value Meal.

This isn’t all McDonald’s has up its sleeve to celebrate our nation’s birthday month. They are also bringing back two popular favourites: their Crisscut Fries (from $3.50), and their Banana Pie ($1.40).

The former features crispy rounds of crisscrossed potatoes, with plenty of real estate to dip in more garlic chilli. If you want these with your meal, simply top up $0.30!

The Banana Pie is a familiar one if you tried it during the Minions meal release, with sweet banana puree in the middle, and flaky pastry crust on the outer.

Finally, the fast-food chain will also have a Kopi Frappe (from $4.30), a twist on our nation’s favourite breakfast beverage. This is served with a coffee-based frappuccino and whipped cream atop.

These new additions are while stocks last only, and available at most McDonald’s outlets in Singapore. Delivery is also available on McDelivery, GrabFood, and Foodpanda.

Otherwise, there’s also Shakey’s Pizza, a famous-in-the-Phillippines pizza store that will open in Lucky Plaza soon.
