McDonald’s Brings Back Ha Cheong Gai Chicken Burger For National Day

McDonald’s ha cheong gai chicken burger returns

Here’s a PSA for all fried chicken fans: McDonald’s has brought back their Ha Cheong Gai Chicken Burger, available from 8 August 2024, 11am

The burger is inspired by the classic prawn-paste fried chicken dish commonly served at zi char eateries and restaurants. You can get it as an Extra Value Meal, with fries and a drink, from $8.90.

In case you didn’t know, these burgers were first launched back in 2018 to much fanfare. They feature a crispy chicken patty paired with a prawn paste-infused dressing, so you get a savoury, umami-laden, and slightly sweet flavour with every bite.

The news about their comeback was teased in late July when McDonald’s relaunched their Satay Burgers and Crisscut Fries, which are both currently still in stores too.

While you’re there, try their Satay Chicken Burger (from $8.90), which pairs tender chicken thigh with a peanutty satay sauce, sliced cucumbers, and onions. If it sounds familiar, that’s because it was first launched as Shiok Shiok Satay Burger 10 years ago. This time, the sauce is said to be an improved version that’s better than when it was first on the menu in 2014—thicker and richer with a hint of spice.

Another new item on the menu is the Thai Milk Tea Frappe ($4.70), a refreshing ice-blended drink that’s the perfect pairing with the burgers. This beverage is sweet with a floral note, like a cross between Thai tea and teh bing.

Otherwise, get your hands on the cult-favourite McDonald’s McGriddles (from $5.95), also back on the menu for a limited time only! These sweet and savoury sandwiches pair maple-flavoured griddle cakes—similar to pancakes—with your choice of fillings. There are four options to choose from: Sausage McGriddles, Sausage McGriddles with Egg, Chicken McGriddles with Egg, and McGriddles Stack, loaded with two chicken sausages, cheese, egg, and two pieces of crispy bacon.

In related food news, US chain Blue Bottle Coffee will be launching at Raffles City soon, with their famous Craft Instant Espresso, NOLA Craft Instant Coffee Blend and more.

There’s also an upcoming food fair in Kallang called Absolut Food Festival, which will take place from 16 August to 18 August 2024 with over 130 stalls!
