Last year, Meow Barbecue took the internet by storm when diners were offered discounts based on their height difference. This viral height-based discount is now back from 1 March to 30 April 2024—good news for short kings and queens!
Get discounts based on the height difference between any two diners in a group. You receive a 10% discount for a height difference of 10cm or less, 20% for a difference between 10cm and 29cm, and 30% for a difference between 30cm and 49cm. To qualify for the maximum discount of 40%, diners will need a height difference of 50cm or more.
If you haven’t heard of Meow Barbecue, their Bugis+ outlet marks the Chinese restaurant’s first overseas foray. Founded in 2012, the brand boasts over 30 outlets across major Chinese cities, including Shanghai, Guangzhou, and Beijing. It has also ranked consistently as one of the top 10 BBQ restaurants in China.
Feline lovers will be charmed by the restaurant’s decor, where playful paw prints and cat motifs decorate table mats and crockery, complemented by a feature wall displaying the brand’s cat mascot in each zodiac sign.
At Meow Barbecue, you’ll find a variety of premium meats and high-quality marinades, featuring beef sourced from the U.S. and Australia, as well as pork from Spain. A standout dish is the Meow Signature Pork and Chicken Platter ($59.80++), which gets you six types of meat: Chicken with Szechuan peppers, Iberico Spicy Pork Belly with Pickled Peppers, Iberico Pork Belly with Garlic, Iberico Pork Collar in Smoky Sauce, Iberico Pork Collar with Pineapple, and Sliced Chinese Sausages.
The chicken with Sichuan peppers dish offers a fiery kick, showcasing tender, thick chicken chunks infused with green peppercorns and a zesty house-made chilli sauce.
Directly imported from Spain, the fatty Iberico pork belly boasts a smoky flavour when grilled, along with a rich, nutty undertone.
Meow Barbecue also provides different sauces and dips to accompany your meat. Each sauce comes with a description to help diners choose the best pairing for their protein. Options include Grapefruit Juice, known for its refreshing tang that complements fattier cuts, and Omnipotent Seasoning, a dry powder infused with Indian spices.
A la carte meat platters are also available, including the Meow Signature Spicy Beef With Pickled Peppers (S$19.80++). This dish features delicately marbled beef slices from grain-fed, 129-day-old cattle, topped with pickled chillies for acidity. Enjoy the succulent beef on its own, or pair it with a bowl of Signature Savory Rice ($3.80++), cooked with dark soy sauce to help balance out the meat’s spiciness.
Good for sharing is the Spicy Mala Cucumber ($5.80++), starring juicy cucumbers doused in an appetising, zesty sauce. Despite its name, it’s not overly spicy; instead, it offers a refreshing kick.
End your meal with the Signature Caramel Pudding ($6.80++), served in the shape of a cat paw. This creamy dessert, reminiscent of creme brulee, is a good balance between milky and eggy.
