Samgyetang fans, take note: MODU, the viral Korean restaurant known for its hour-long queues, is opening a new outlet at Raffles City.
MODU first made a name for itself at Mandarin Gallery, where it was dubbed Singapore’s first samgyetang specialty restaurant. The concept has since expanded to a second, larger outlet, MODU High on Amoy Street, which offers up to 12 different samgyetang flavours—double of what’s available at the original.
Both outlets lean into a hanok-inspired aesthetic with warm wooden tones and traditional Korean architecture, giving the space an upscale yet cosy atmosphere.
Details on the upcoming outlet are still scarce, but based on MODU’s existing locations, we’re expecting the menu to revolve around samgyetang. Their ginseng chicken soup is made with a whole young chicken stuffed with glutinous rice, dates, garlic, and ginseng root, simmered for hours in a restorative broth.
Beyond the classic Collagen Herbal ($35++), MODU also serves more distinctive versions of the dish such as Black Sesame ($38++), Perilla Seed ($38++), and a punchy Hangover ($37++) soup made with a secret spicy sauce.
Beyond the soups, MODU also offers a handful of sharing dishes and appetisers, including the HwangTaeChae ($20++), featuring dried pollack strips served with a creamy, mildly spicy mayo dip, and the crispy Minari Pancake ($18++).
If you’re dining as a pair, the 2-Gather set ($98++) bundles two samgyetang of your choice with an appetiser, a sharing dish and Korean tea, capped off with dessert.
