After close to 20 years operating at their Wheelock Place outlet, Japanese restaurant Sun With Moon has opened a casual outpost called Sun With Moon Light. It’s located in JEM, which means Westies now get to enjoy Japanese kettle tea rice AKA kamameshi. The traditional delicacy features tasty rice cooked in a kelp and bonito stock, and is jam-packed with liao so you get bursts of flavour and plenty of variety with each bite.
Besides the signature kamameshi, which is available with a wide array of toppings such as Chicken Teriyaki ($15++) and Beef Yakiniku ($17++), Sun With Moon Light also has a sprawling Okemori Komachi Bento ($35++) set which comes with a whopping six savoury courses, and a platter of three petite desserts. If “variety is the spice of life” is your mantra, this is the ideal bento for you.

Robertson Quay favourite Tapas,24 has introduced a new menu alongside classic favourites. These new dishes, including a Spanish Iberico Chuleta ($42++), have been created by Michelin-starred Chef Carles Abellan in Barcelona, where the OG Tapas,24 is located.
Fired on a Josper oven-grill, over wood charcoal, the Chuleta is marinated in Mediterranean spices which go hand in hand with the new Mar Y Montania ($39++)—paella cooked in a seafood stock with prawns, chicken, clams, and mussels. Don’t miss Clams in Sherry ($38++), starring meaty, briny shellfish tinged with sweetness from the sherry wine.
Pair your meal with one of their signature sangria (from $17++), prepared with fresh-chopped fruits macerated in wine and zhnged up with a touch of spice.

If you are looking for a fancy place for a corporate lunch, Yantra is a good pick. This restaurant offers classic Indian cuisine with a modern touch. They currently have an Executive Lunch Menu ($75++ per person), a five-course meal with a wide variety of dishes!
This set lunch came with a non-vegetarian or vegetarian option. All main courses except the Chelo Kebab will be served with Naan, Ma Ki Dal AKA black lentil stew, and Navrattan Pulao, which is seasoned rice. We got the non-vegetarian version, which came with juicy tandoor-grilled chicken and mutton seekh kebab—grilled minced mutton. The vegetarian variant of these mains are grilled cottage cheese and a vegetable seekh kebab.
We loved the Chaat Banarasi, which resembles pani puri, except that the potato masala was covered with aerated yoghurt and mint chutney instead. The potato puffs were decorated with fine murukku flakes, pomegranate and mint leaves. We really liked the textural contrast between the velvety, fluffy yoghurt and the potato puffs.

Singapore has many pizzerias, but getting good Tokyo-Neopolitan-style pie here is a different question altogether. Thankfully, we’ve got Beyond The Dough now, a restaurant specialising in that exact type of pizza. This new restaurant is run by Chef Eddie Murakami, who has earned his stripes at Tokyo’s Michelin-minted pizza houses. Here, you get delicious thin-crust pizza made with Japanese flour, baked in a woodfired oven, over Japanese wood.
Try their exclusive Singapore Rampage ($39++), a pizza that’s inspired by prawn noodles. The tomato sauce base is prepared with prawn stock, and slow-cooked for 20 hours to ensure maximum flavour. Each pie comes topped with prawn whorls, and dressed with chilli flakes for some heat. If prawn-on-pizza is not your jam, then turn to Beyond The Dough’s other classic flavours, such as the Diavola ($35++) and 5 Formaggi ($39++).

Wildfire Burgers is known for their affordable, gourmet burgers and fried chicken. They’ve had multiple outlets islandwide, but have since whittled down those numbers to their Robertson Quay restaurant. The space has recently undergone renovations, and a menu upgrade as well!
Our personal favourite was their Triple Bacon Burger ($23++), where you get juicy Wagyu patties layered with bacon slices, bacon jam, and a bacon-flavoured mayo, as well as brie cheese. For chicken burger die-hards, the Hot Honey Butter Chicken ($18++), complete with a huge slab of fried chicken, is sure to please. Adding to these new burgs are a range of novel sides, such as the Wedge Salad ($13++) and Salt & Vinegar Fried Onion Rings ($8++).

Great Nanyang Heritage Cafe has opened their second outlet in 111 Somerset, boasting nostalgic old-school decor and outlet-exclusive dishes. The restaurant is known for offering local and Malaysian dishes overall, so you can expect delights such as Claypot Mee Tai Mak ($9.90) and Curry Chicken Chee Cheong Fun ($9.90) on the menu.
We’re also big fans of their Nanyang-style kopi and teh drinks, including their latest Sai Ka Hor (from $3), a Malaysian classic that combines Milo with kopi. Sweet and malty, this is best enjoyed iced, in our opinion.
