Ngee Ann City Has An Outdoor Christmas Market With Food Stalls—Get Mochi Doughnuts, Thai Street Food And More

Ngee Ann City opens The Great Christmas Village market

Let’s face it: Christmas markets in Singapore are never going to be as atmospheric as those in Europe, but this doesn’t mean you can’t visit one and have fun. If you’re not travelling over the festive season but still want to enjoy some of that yuletide charm, head down to Ngee Ann City as they’re running their very own Christmas market known as The Great Christmas Village, from now till 2 January 2023.

The fair is held at the mall’s Civic Plaza, and has a variety of family-friendly activities, including amusement rides, photo booths, and live festive music. What you really want to go down for, however, is their range of food stalls and F&B vendors offering unique bites.

There are numerous stalls there, including a handful of notable local eateries.

First is VeganBurg, the world’s first 100% plant-based burger joint that has a festive pop-up. They’re selling their burgers, and sidekicks, AKA side dishes here.

Next on the must-try list at the Ngee Ann City Christmas Market is Dochi Dochi, a mochi doughnut specialty stall.

The home-based business does regular pop-ups and has gained quite a legion of fans for their QQ doughnuts. There are five flavours, ranging from the sweet Nutella-laced Nutty-Tella ($10) to the savoury Parmesan Garlic Butter ($12).

All of these come with mini mochi doughnuts that are fried to order. You can also mix and match flavours to try a bit of everything too.

There’s also a limited edition set, The Banana Boat ($16), which comes with two banana-stuffed mochi doughnuts, six regular mochi doughnuts, and a scoop of gelato.

Another stall to buy from is Yaowarat Thai St Food. This joint serves up all your BKK night market snack staples.

This ranges from Pad Thai ($7.30) to Grilled Baby Octopus ($10), and a variety of Thai sausages that are all priced at $2.50.

Okonomiyaki and takoyaki are both pasar malam favourites in Singapore, and you can also get your hands on both at The Great Christmas Village. Other stall highlights include Vadai Queen, serving up different flavours of vadai, as well as sugarcane juice, Cocosan for coconut shakes, and Rancho Meats, which serves up Philly cheesesteaks and more.
