No.5 Emerald Hill Has Chinese Dessert Martinis In Flavours Such As Chendol, Red Bean And More

No.5 Emerald Hill in Orchard

Beautiful cocktail bar No.5 Emerald Hill at Orchard has recently introduced a range of Ol’ School Tong Shui Dessert Martinis. These Chinese dessert-influenced cocktails are served out of their charmingly rustic old Peranakan shophouse.

Located at an eight-minute walk from Somerset MRT Station, this two storey watering hole is also adorned with meticulously curated antique furniture to match its exterior.

Their Chendol Martini (two for $28++) nails the texture experience with contrasting textures of chendol jelly and bits of crushed iced, replicating a legit bowl of chendol. Don’t be fooled by the first sip of rich and creamy coconut cream, as the Havana Club rum packs a sweet alcoholic punch.

Their Red Bean Martini (three for $33++) infuses grape and peach soju with red bean ice cream and a dash of watermelon, making for a sweet and fruity combination. Leaning more refreshing, their watermelon juice lightens the martini. Just like their Chendol Martini, a strong kick of alcohol is present from the first sip.

Along with their perpetual all-day 1-for-1 martini pairings, they are also known for their note-worthy bar snacks that sets them apart from other watering holes.

One of which is their Signature Chicken Wings ($21)—essentially a har cheong gai infused with Chinese wine. These crispy chicken wings are umami and juicy, creating a good balance to the sweeter drinks.

New to the menu is their bite-sized Prawn Toast With Mentaiko ($16). With prawns marinated by No.5 Emerald Hill’s house-made sauce, the crustaceans are fried till crispy before being topped on a toast that is doused with mentaiko sauce.
