We previously raved about local dessert parlour No Horse Run when they first launched in Yishun. This time, they’re bringing their popular buttermilk waffles and locally inspired gelato to the West! The new cafe is located within Choa Chu Kang MRT Station, opposite The Warren condominium.

This second branch is also serving all-day brunch fare and Sarawak-style kolo mee, so you can fill up properly before indulging in all the sweet stuff.

Go for the Classic Kolo Mee ($6): Malaysian-style springy noodles with house-made minced pork and thick char siew slices. Alternatively, one up your meal with the Premium Kolo Mee ($8.50), which comes with additional prawns and deep-fried wontons.

For brunch, there are currently three classics on the menu: Eggs Benedict ($9.80), NHR Pancakes ($6.80), and Signature Breakfast ($12.80) comprising an assortment of eggs, french toast, tater tots and more. There’s also a small pasta menu with choices including Carbonara ($8.80) and Smoked Duck Aglio Olio ($8.80).

Fans can look forward to the cafe’s signature Pandan Gula Melaka Waffles ($6.50), best enjoyed with scoops of gelato. To go with this waffle flavour, we recommend the nostalgic Muah Chee ($5) gelato, studded with sticky and chewy handmade muah chee bits and crunchy peanuts.

The green-hued waffle batter is made with pure pandan extract that the team painstakingly makes themselves. Gula melaka and coconut milk are added to the mix for depth and flavour. When we tried them during our visit to their Yishun location last year, they boasted a crisp exterior with a pleasantly light and fluffy middle.

Another must-try flavour from the gelato menu is the Seasalt Matcha ($5), made with Uji matcha and Himalayan pink salt. There’s also a Cereal Mai Pian ($5) flavour worth getting if you’re a fan of the old-school Nestum cereal drink.
