Old Chang Kee London opens in Covent Garden

Our homegrown fried food snack chain, Old Chang Kee, is finally up and running in London, United Kingdom! Located at Covent Garden, which is London’s West End and home to all things theatre, the shop is the franchise’s first foray into Europe; other overseas outposts include Malaysia, Indonesia and Australia.

The full menu isn’t out, but but you can definitely expect the same, delicious Hainanese-style curry puffs you know so well. Other items available include their Chicken & Mushroom Puff, Singapore Chilli Crab Puff and Curry Chicken Rice set.

We are unsure if there will be grub exclusive to their London stall, but as Old Chang Kee is known to conjure up an array of interesting small bites that suit the local market – remember the Nasi Lemak Curry Puff? – we wouldn’t be surprised if they come up with a unique rendition of fish and chips!

From its humble beginnings as a small stall along Mackenzie Road to claiming a spot along one of London’s busiest streets, it’s heartwarming, really, to see how the brand has grown to become an international name.

Now, if you’re wondering whether these deep-fried pockets can survive London’s gastronomic climate – they can. After all, when the chain held a two-day pop up in London last year, their curry puffs sold out within four hours on each day. That’s 1,200 curry puffs sold in eight hours! #singaporerepresent

So the next time you’re at London and feeling homesick, be sure to pay this pastel yellow shopfront a visit for a scrummy taste of home!

If you’re in Singapore and am looking for yummy curry puffs to much on, check out our list of underrated curry puffs in town!

Address: 15A New Row, Covent Garden WC2N 4LA.
