If you haven’t already jumped onto the castella cake bandwagon, now’s the time ‘cause Original Cake is giving away free castella cakes on 23 September 2017 at Westgate! This Taiwanese brand has long been known for their fluffy, jiggly castella cakes that come in flavours such as chocolate and cheese.
They’re opening their very first outlet in Singapore, and to celebrate that, they’ll be offering 800 free castella cakes in the original flavour. The cakes will be given out on a first come, first serve basis, and no purchase is required for you to get your hands on one of them.
Each slab of castella cake from Original Cake is about 22.5cm in length and 13cm in width, which is about the dimensions of a piece of A5 paper (21cm x 14.8cm). Their Singapore outlet will have three flavours, namely Original ($11.50), Golden Cheese ($13.50), and Frozen Chocolate ($16.50), which is made with Hershey’s chocolate. Every cake is made with fresh ingredients, so they must be eaten within three days.
Made from simple ingredients such as eggs, flour and sugar, castella cakes caused a craze in Singapore due to its incredibly light and bouncy texture. They’re not as sweet as regular cakes, and are incredibly fragrant when eaten warm.
So if you haven’t already given castella cakes a try, head over to Westgate on 23 September to bring one of these fluffy cakes home for free!
