Cookie enthusiasts, there’s another cool home-based business to bookmark. Orko Bakehouse is a new HBB that soft-launched on 11 July 2022, with only one item on the menu: Cheesecake Cookies.

Expect locally-inspired flavours in the likes of Kaya Coconut, starring a vibrant green-hued kaya spread with matcha and grated coconut, sitting atop a creamy cheesecake-like filling and crunchy cookie base.

There’s also a unique Kopi “Churro” flavour that blends the sweet flavours of churros with bittersweet coffee notes. This features a chocolate cookie topped with soft cream cheese, coffee jam, and cinnamon sugar. For a finishing touch, it’s lightly brûléed with a blow torch for a deep sweetness and light crunch.

Another torched flavour is the Earl Grey Brûlée: swirled chocolate and classic cookie paired with the same signature cheesecake mix, and topped with caramelised sugar. Otherwise, the lighter-tasting Raspberry Lychee Meringue will please with its fruity, jammy filling, and sweet meringue topping.

Each box of six costs $33, and there are currently four flavours to choose from.

Add Orko Bakehouse to your list of home-based businesses to try for your next gathering! Order your cookies online at their webstore and get them delivered to your doorstep at a flat fee of $9.

Another home-based business worth trying is Tat Tea, which specialises in Yaowarat-style buns filled with Thai tea spread, pandan kaya and more. They’re priced at $8 for three or $15 for six, and you can pre-order online.

If you prefer heading out for your sweet treats, visit O Happi Place, an under-HDB cafe in Everton Park with delicious waffles, gelato and more. Alternatively, read our Butterspace Bakery review for late-night ice cream cookie sandwiches in Bedok.
