$2++ fish head curry at Pavilion Banana Leaf

It seems like it was just yesterday when Jurong Point went through a revamp. Previously known as Zaffron Banana Leaf, Pavilion Banana Leaf was one of the new eateries that came in after the mall’s face-lift. Celebrating their second anniversary on 2 July 2019, they are offering their signature Fish Head Curry (Half) (U.P. $28++) from 11:30am, at only $2++!

“A deal better than Daiso” is all I can think of when I saw their Facebook post. This fish head curry dish is a must-order at Pavilion Banana Leaf. It features half a fish head and tons of vegetables such as lady’s fingers, tomatoes, and eggplant. All of those are plenty to share with a makan kaki or two if you’re ordering more dishes.

Served in an earthen clay pot, the fish head is fresh and meaty. This dish is great for those who prefer their curry on the sour side, as tamarind plays a huge part in the recipe. The natural sweetness of the fish is also highlighted by the savoury and mildly spicy curry.

The full-bodied curry also makes for a good sauce to drench your fluffy Ponni White Rice ($2++) in. But I highly recommend getting their Garlic Naan ($5.20++) or Cheese Naan ($6.20++) to make stomach space for more of their delicious South Indian cuisine.

Their Indian celebrity chef, Dr Chef Damu, cooks up a storm with dishes including the Chicken White Korma ($13.30++)—chicken cubes simmered till fork-tender in a creamy green chilli paste. Another must-order if you’re visiting with a large group is their Pavilion Tandoori Platter ($42.50++ for four diners), which comes with five kinds of meat, each with different marinades.

The restaurant was certified halal just a year ago, so be sure to jio your friends or colleagues ASAP, as this deal is only limited to the first 200 customers. All you have to do is like and follow their Instagram or Facebook page before making your way down.
