Penny University’s main outlet, which can be found near Bugis, continues to be one of the more popular cafes in the area. It seems that their sustained success has led to the opening of a second outlet, which can be found in Wisma Geylang Serai.

This new outlet opened in January this year, and bears many of the hallmarks that made the original Penny University so well-liked. Namely, the cafe’s minimalist aesthetic and its halal-certified menu, which is prepared with ingredients sourced from local suppliers.
A must-try brunch option is the Classic Eggs Benedict ($19++). Thick toast will be joined with your choice of smoked salmon, turkey ham, or beef cheeks, then paired with two golden poached eggs and topped with their house-made Hollandaise sauce.
For something heartier, give the Harlem-style Buttermilk Chicken on Waffles ($25++) a shot. This dish is known for its crispy-on-the-outside, juicy-on-the-inside-chicken thighs, and sweet waffles.
Should you arrive during dinnertime, you can treat yourself to satisfying main dishes such as the Steak Frites ($26++), which features 200g prime-cut steak, fries, and fried egg. Some brunch options will also suffice for dinner, including the Beef burger with Fries ($24.50++), starring house-made premium tenderloin beef patty, gruyère and aged cheddar, grilled tomato, caramelised onion, and beetroot mayo.
Of course, you have to try Penny University’s coffee as well. You can’t go wrong with options such as Espresso With Milk ($4++), Muddy Espresso with Cold Milk ($5.50++), and even good ol’ Cold Brew ($7++) in Black or White for those who prefer a stronger chilled coffee.
