Pepper Lunch Is Now Halal-Certified Across All Restaurant And Express Outlets

Pepper Lunch is now halal

Pepper Lunch used to be an indulgent after-school treat for me, with the enticing smell of browning food and recognisable sounds of sizzling hotplates. The popular chain is now officially halal-certified across all outlets, both restaurants and express.

While their menu previously didn’t include pork and lard, Pepper Lunch received its halal certification today, after numerous rounds of evaluation since March last year. Now, all their outlets display the halal certificate as well as logo. They make great Muslim-friendly meal options, with eight Pepper Lunch restaurants and 17 express outlets in food courts peppered across the island.

Pepper Lunch serves their dishes on hot iron plates, to cook the proteins quickly while ensuring they remain hot for the rest of the meal. A must-order is their iconic Beef Pepper Rice (from $7.20), which features thin beef slices, corn, rice, and spring onions. Be sure to mix the dish thoroughly, and include a drizzle of their signature honey brown or garlic soy sauce for a medley of flavours. If beef is not your thing, the eatery offers salmon and chicken alternatives.

Steak doesn’t have to be a splurge at Pepper Lunch, where you can get their Pepper Steak at prices that start from $10.90. It is topped with a dollop of house-made butter, which cooks into the meat for a buttery flavour. This dish is also served with rice, miso soup, and assorted vegetables for a more balanced meal.

The Pepper Lunch restaurants see a more comprehensive menu, with additions of pasta dishes like the Beef Aglio Olio ($12.90). Do note that prices here are slightly more expensive than the express outlets. However, this is justified by the bigger serving portions as well as semi-casual ambience you can’t get at the food court.
