Even though Ichiban Boshi has 13 outlets islandwide, you’ll find a different speciality menu at every store. The one at Suntec City specialises in soba dishes such as the Beef Soba Salad ($15.90++) that comes with springy noodles and generous portions of juicy beef. Loading up Google Maps to find a bar for post-dinner drinks is a familiar routine for most of us. Avoid that long walk by having your next meetup at Potato Head which houses a burger joint, rooftop bar, and drinking den—all in one building.

With Miss Rona pressing pause on Eurotrip plans, eating at Brotzeit is one of the best ways to savour legit German food at reasonable prices. Nestled along Purvis Street, Yummo Chow is a good spot to start your cafe-hopping spree with its aesthetically pleasing white brick walls and tasty brunch fare. Their Chilli Crab Pasta ($24.90++) comes with house-made chilli crab sauce that’s mixed with egg white and wild mushrooms, before being topped with a crispy soft shell crab. Those with a sweet tooth can try the Tempura Ice Cream ($12++) where vanilla ice cream is encased in a deep fried bun that’s drizzled with caramel sauce and dusted with icing sugar.

Tiong Bahru Bakery Diner stands out from other Tiong Bahru Bakery outlets in that it also serves mains such as pasta, in addition to the baked goodies that the chain is known for. The Fluffy Brown Butter Pancake-Sweet ($21++) comprises pancakes that are made with brown butter which explains their unique colour. The stack is then topped with Thai mango compote, salted butter caramel sauce, and lemongrass Chantilly cream for a potent punch of sweet and refreshing flavours.
