Bukit Timah Wet Market & Food Centre is one of the best hawker spots for foodies in the West, with cool openings like Bronzo Pasta Bar doling up handmade pasta and tiramisu shaved ice. I was at the hawker centre recently for lunch and came across SL II Muffin, a popular bakery selling muffins and tarts from $1.90. FYI, there are plenty of outlets across Singapore, and the Bukit Timah stall is just one of them.
There are over 20 variations of muffins and tarts here, where the cheapest is priced at $1.90 in flavours like Banana, Strawberry, Blueberry, Lemon, Walnut, and Chocolate Chip.
As for tarts at the same price, you can get the Egg Tart or the Coconut Tart. The former has been a steady seller for years, and many regulars go back to the bakery just to get a box of the creamy egg tarts. Other flavours are available, too, including Apple Tart, Peach Tart, and Mixed Nuts Tart for $2.20 each.
There are more muffins than tarts to choose from, with an interesting lineup of Mango Green Tea ($2.20), Cranberry Orange ($2.20), and even Cheese ($2.20).
You get one free muffin for every five you buy, so we recommend buying a box of different flavours to share.
For easy access, SL II Muffin at Bukit Timah Wet Market & Food Centre is a quick four-minute walk from Beauty World MRT Station.
