Sunday Folks has nasi lemak ice cream for National Day

If you’re someone who enjoys the fusion of sweet and savoury flavours in a dessert, we’ve got news for you: Sunday Folks has just unveiled their new lineup of nasi lemak-inspired desserts in celebration of Singapore’s 58th birthday! These items will be available from now till 30 September 2023.

The new Nasi Lemak Ice Cream Parfait is only available at the ION Orchard outlet, and is priced at $18++ per serving. This unique creation sees the dessert brand’s Freshly Churned Blue Pea Coconut ice cream paired with coconut rice pudding, pandan rice pop, and cucumber jelly, then crowned with peanut coconut meringue and sambal crumble for texture. There’s even a drizzle of chilli sauce to complete the nasi lemak experience!

Established in 2014, Sunday Folks shot to fame with their curated menu of elegant handcrafted desserts, including their famous soft serve and waffles combo.

Their ION Orchard outlet shares the same space with Bynd Artisan, another home-grown brand specialising in personalising leather goods. There are only 11 seats in the earth-toned cafe, which is decked out with wooden elements and equipped with terrazzo table tops for a simple yet classy vibe.

Another new offering is the Freshly Churned Blue Pea Coconut Ice Cream on Waffles ($11.50++), available exclusively at Sunday Folks Holland Village. This treat features the same blue pea coconut ice cream sitting atop a classic waffle that’s infused with the savoury essence of nasi lemak. Served alongside are crispy accompaniments such as peanut thins and fried anchovies, complemented by a luscious dollop of coconut rice pudding.

The blue pea coconut ice cream can also be enjoyed in a cup or on a cone for $8.50++ at Sunday Folks Holland Village, and $9++ at Sunday Folks ION Orchard.

The brand is also launching Asia’s first-ever caviar ice cream in collaboration with Caviar Colony, a Singapore-founded caviar brand. To mark National Day, the hand-crafted ice cream will be available exclusively at the ION Orchard outlet from 1 August to 13 August. It can be enjoyed with a Classic Cone ($68++) or as a Dessert Bowl ($168++). The latter is served with 10g worth of caviar and a mother-of-pearl spoon so you can garnish the dessert yourself.
