Get Japanese-Approved Sashimi Don From $11.90 At This Lavender Stall

Ten Ten Otoko has affordable sashimi don in Lavender

Recently, a video by a Japanese local living in Singapore caught our attention—and we were immediately sold. In it, he introduced Ten Ten Otoko, a humble food court stall in Lavender serving up affordable yet delicious Japanese food, a combo that’s surprisingly hard to find in Singapore these days.

There are over 10 mains on the menu, with prices starting from just $8.90, but the biggest crowd-pullers are undoubtedly the eight variations of sashimi donburi. Prices range from a wallet-friendly $11.90 to $22.90 for the most premium bowl, which is still reasonable, making it easy to get your sashimi fix without breaking the bank.

If you want to try a little bit of everything, the 6 Kind Sashimi Donburi ($13.90) is the way to go. The bowl comes loaded with a colourful assortment of Salmon, Maguro, Mekajiki Swordfish, Octopus Taco, Ika Cuttlefish, and Hamachi Yellowtail, giving you plenty of variety in every bite.

At most Japanese restaurants in Singapore, a sashimi bowl like this would easily set you back over $20, which makes the price here feel almost too good to be true. What’s more, the sashimi is fresh, and the portions are satisfying for the price, according to online reviews.

Don’t worry if raw seafood isn’t your thing; there are plenty of other donburi options to choose from, too. One of the more popular picks is the Gyu Don with Onsen Egg ($9.90), starring a generous bowl of rice topped with tender, flavourful slices of beef. The silky onsen egg ties everything together, adding richness to every bite.

There’s also the classic Katsu Curry Rice with Scrambled Egg ($10.90), which comes with a crispy, golden-fried cutlet served over fluffy rice and drenched in a rich Japanese curry. The soft scrambled egg adds an extra layer of creaminess, making this a hearty option for diners craving something a little more indulgent.

Here’s a tip: go for the Tori Nanban Donburi ($9.90), then take it up a notch with a few tasty add-ons. Add $1 for a scoop of Tenten Curry Sauce to drizzle over the rice, another $1 for a comforting bowl of Miso Soup, and if you’re feeling a bit indulgent, an extra $2 for more Egg Tartar Sauce. And yes, all of these are part of the add-on menu, perfect for customising your meal exactly how you like it.

For those interested, Ten Ten Otoko is just a four-minute walk from Lavender MRT Station, tucked inside Kimly Coffeeshop.
