1. Slow Day Cafe


If matcha desserts and drinks sound like your thing, check out Slow Day Cafe at Mount Austin. Their glorious Matcha Cake (RM28), which is said to be soft, earthy, and pleasantly sweet, is a fan favourite. Alternatively, try the Genmaicha Cake (RM28), with aromatic nuttiness and hints of roasted brown rice. For a drink, the Strawberry Matcha (RM17.90) is a good pick, featuring three beautiful layers of sweet strawberry compote, fresh milk, and a matcha shot.

2. Cheevit Cheeva


Cheevit Cheeva is a popular Thai dessert chain with over 10 outlets worldwide, including one in JB’s Mount Austin. Try the Shokupan Thai Tea Sang-Ka-Ya Bingsu (RM34), with Thai tea-flavoured shaved ice, crispy shokupan bits, and thick Thai tea cream. If toast is more your thing, go for the Toast Pandan Sang-Ka-Ya (RM32), a thick shokupan slice topped with sweet pandan sauce, coconut shreds, and creamy coconut ice cream.

3. Oh My Ice


Oh My Ice, a Korean cafe that doubles as a tufting studio, is the place to be if you want effortlessly pretty desserts and drinks. Just look at the house-made Strawberry Cream Cake (RM23), starring a heaping dollop of cream covering layers of airy sponge and strawberry jam within. Drinks such as the Castle In The Sky (RM23) and Glowing Sunset (RM16), which is topped by cotton candy, are equally gorgeous as well.

4. Four Beans


Four Beans is a popular dessert chain with nine outlets across JB. We checked out the one at Mount Austin, and enjoyed the World of Taro Soy Beancurd (RM16+), which combined creamy taro and soft beancurd. It comes with brown sugar and soya milk on the side, which you can add according to your liking. We were also fans of the Black Sesame Shaved Ice with Taro Ball (RM20+), where a pile of shaved black sesame ice is topped with a scoop of sweet red bean paste and chewy taro balls.

5. Morihana Pastry


You’ll find Morihana Pastry in Eco Spring Labs, the retail park with colourful shophouses and exciting eats. This cafe is known for its cute, dainty treats, such as the Azure (RM24+), a cake that’s shaped like a pastel blue sphere, with a crown of flowers balancing on it. There’s also the Rose Watermelon Cake (RM20+): inspired by the famous Black Star Pastry in Australia, this delicate cube is layered with almond cake, cream, lychee, strawberry, and a wedge of watermelon.

6. Manzanita Patisserie & Boulangerie


With a 4.8-star rating on Google Maps, Manzanita Patisserie & Boulangerie is widely praised for its cosy interiors and well-crafted desserts. The Mango Mousse and Passion Fruit Gelee (RM15.80++) comes in vibrant yellow, layering cream, fresh mango, and mango jam for a sweet-tangy treat. There’s also the Earl Grey Red Velvet Mousse Cake (RM16++), which infuses Earl Grey tea with a sweet red velvet taste—we found that it strikes a good balance between the sweet and earthy flavours.

7. Dipndip


While there’s a dipndip outlet in Singapore, you might want to check out the Mid Valley Southkey JB outlet for its cheaper price. This cafe focuses on chocolate desserts, using rich Belgian chocolate in every dish. Try the Pancake Brownie Club (RM35), with buttermilk pancakes, house-made brownies, and fresh strawberries, topped with milk, dark, and white chocolate from their fountains. Another crowd favourite is the Fettuccine Crepe (RM39.50), with shredded crepes that look like pasta drenched in milk chocolate.

8. Re Patisserie


Re Patisserie is a Korean-inspired dessert café near JB customs, with a minimalist interior of wooden tones and rattan chairs that’s great for the ‘gram. The menu changes often, but we tried the Happy Nut (RM23+), a choux puff filled with pistachio cream and topped with crunchy pistachio bits. Another highlight was the Cloud Hill (RM29+), a fruit tart layered with cream and a hint of bourbon. Pair your desserts with an Iced Espresso Matcha (from RM17+) for an earthy finish.

9. The Blue Door Coffee House


The Blue Door Coffee House is a spacious cafe offering a range of trendy matcha and pistachio drinks and desserts. A must-try treat is the Matchamisu (RM22): coffee-soaked ladyfingers with matcha mascarpone. Also consider getting the Pistachio Cookies Mochi Croissant (RM18), a flaky croissant filled with chewy mochi and topped with smooth pistachio cream. Pair it with a Matcha Ah Yuzu (RM20) for a sweet-tangy, earthy drink.

10. Yeon Cafe


If you love Korean-inspired cafes, Yeon Cafe in Taman Pelangi is well worth the visit. It’s just a 10-minute drive from JB customs and features a cosy, minimalist interior that comes complete with fluffy cushions, macrame runners, and pastel flowers. Don’t leave without trying the Genmaicha Mochi Tart (RM12+), a warm buttery tart filled with soft, chewy mochi and topped with crispy cookie crumbs. Beyond desserts, the cafe also serves Japanese-inspired mains, including Salmon Yuzu Ochazuke (RM33+), comprising rice immersed in broth with crispy yuzu-glazed salmon. Finally, wash it all down with a glass of creamy Raspberry Milk (RM15+).

11. Maco Cafe

Maco Cafe is a must-visit if you’re a fan of mille crepe cakes, with more than 30 flavours to choose from. Beyond classics, they offer unique options such as Pandan Kaya, French Chestnut, Musang Durian, Oolong Peach Tea, and Rum & Raisin. To go with your cake, get one of their Little Bear on Ice Bath drinks—iced blends topped with a teddy bear-shaped ice block. What sets it apart is its buffet-style concept—customers simply grab a plate and pick from a wide spread, with prices starting as low as RM1.
