Tenderfresh is known for its halal fried chicken, but as the newly opened Tenderbest Makcik Tuckshop at Hougang demonstrates, the brand is capable of more than just that.
This well-furnished restaurant overlooks the Punggol Park scenery, which sports lush greenery and a beautiful lake at its heart.
There’s both an indoor and outdoor dining area, so should you want to sit closer to nature, you can choose the outdoor area.
You’ll find many menu items here that cannot be found in other Tenderfresh eateries. The Squid Ink Pasta ($15.90) is one of these—featuring squid, prawns, crabmeat, clams, and tobiko with squid ink-coated pasta, this umami dish will leave your stomach satisfied and your teeth stained in black.
Another exciting addition to this Tenderbest outlet’s menu is the section by Kamala Express. This section features prata such as Prata Bomb (TBD) and Chocolate Prata (TBD), as well as thosai such as the Combo Thosai (TBD), which is filled with eggs, onions, mushrooms, and masala.
If you’re more of a meat lover, we recommend the Whole Lamb Shank with Truffle Mashed Potatoes ($29.90), which features a sizeable lamb shank slow-braised till tender and then served with vegetables and truffle-infused mashed potatoes.
There are also a few burger options here, all of which are served with brioche buns. If the Brioche Beef Burger with Truffle Fries ($16.90) doesn’t entice you, we suggest giving the Salted Egg Crispy Chicken Burger with Truffle Fries ($13.90) a shot—especially if you already like Tenderfresh’s fried chicken.
Speaking of fried chicken, you can always rely on the Signature Crispy Spring Chicken ($20.50), which gets you a whole spring chicken that’s crispy, juicy, and wonderfully fragrant, along with some fries and coleslaw.
While many of the dishes here feature a side of fries, perhaps none are as interesting as the Indomie Fries with Egg ($5.50). Drenched in a sauce that’s based on the famous mee goreng instant noodles, these savoury and slightly sweet fries will go great with most dishes on the menu.
Tenderbest has also brought in Haagen-Dazs to this new outlet, so you can get a variety of desserts from the famous ice cream brand here. These include ice cream drinks such as the Chocolate Milkshake ($10.90) and Strawberry Milkshake ($10.90), and sundaes such as the Fruit Blossom ($15.90).
Do note that all the prices here are nett, so you won’t encounter any surprises at the checkout.
