Wilderness explorers take note: thereâs a new safari-themed, camp-style cafe near Choa Chu Kang, called Tent. Also known as Tenplus, or Ten+, dining here quite literally takes cafe hopping out of this world. Most of us wonât be familiar with Sungei Tengah, but Qian Hu Fish Farm is a pretty recognisable nameâitâs just a five-minute drive away.
Whether youâre looking for a dining adventure off the beaten path, or out at Singaporeâs farms with the kids, Tent might well be the answer. Theyâve even got sturdy tents, dressed with fairy lights, set up so you can wine and dine under the stars, away from the busyness of populated Singapore.
If youâre not that super adventurous yet, the sheltered area is no less rustic, with comfy low tables and slouchy chairsâyou might almost imagine youâre in an exotic resort somewhere.
For those of you whoâve been on the Singapore farms route, youâll be familiar with the lack of dining options in the area. So Tentâs signature Baked Snapper with Sambal Aioli ($23++) will come as a welcome meal break, laid on a bed of house-made pumpkin mash.
For balance of flavours, this is also served with a pickled cucumber relish, crispy leaves of kale, and dry chilli threads.
Thereâs also Torched Aburi Prawn Pasta ($23++), where al dente linguine sits in umami-laden prawn bisque, and is heaped with tobiko.
Youâll also get three de-shelled tiger prawns, dressed with sriracha mayonnaise and torched. If you prefer not to have seafood, their Beef Bolognese Pasta ($18++) features a house-made Angus beef sauce.
Theyâve also got Flame Grilled Angus Burger ($23++)Â served with maple bacon and curly fries, Crispy Pork Knuckle ($32++), and Aburi Mentai Salmon Donburi ($22++), right alongside more classic cafe fare such as Creamy Egg Mayo Croissant ($16++) and Morning Brekkie Burger ($18++).
For those whoâre heading here for tipples, theyâve got Heineken towers ($60++) and craft beers too. Pair them with bites including Szechuan âMalaâ Karaage ($13++), tossed with a house blend of peppers.
Thereâs also a pretty tasty Thai Grilled Pork Skewer âMoo Pingâ ($14++), sprinkled with furikake and bonito flakes!
To complete the cafe experience, order a PSP Latte ($6++), AKA purple sweet potato latte, or Smoked Oak Mocha ($6++), blended with smoked oak chocolate syrup.
