One of the most famous nasi lemak eateries in the country, The Coconut Club, opened a second outlet at 97 Frankel Avenue earlier this year. This move comes after the original outlet relocated to Beach Road sometime last year, showing us that the Michelin-approved franchise is not slowing down any time soon.

One of the things that set The Coconut Club apart from its competition is its particularly flavourful coconut rice. It’s prepared with a two-step process: first, the rice cooked with a house-made rempah, then coconut milk is added to give it its iconic aroma and taste. The milk that’s used here is made from various coconuts that are sourced from family-owned plantations, giving them this extra coconutty kick.
They must be doing things right, as they were recently added to the Michelin Bib Gourmand 2023 list!

While the rice is a clear standout, the other ingredients that feature in The Coconut Club’s nasi lemak are no slouches either. For instance, should you get the Ayam Goreng Berempah ($21++), you’ll be treated to spiced and fried chicken that’s said to be juicy and succulent. The piquant Sambal that comes with each plate enhances each spoonful of nasi lemak goodness.
The new Siglap outlet seems to have a few new additions that aren’t at the Beach Road outlet just yet. There’s the Plant Based Rendang ($28++), which consists of plant-based beef braised in spices and coconut milk, and the Dry Laksa ($21++), which has tiger prawns, shredded chicken breast and more with laksa noodles and a portion of shrimp sambal on the side.
