If you frequent Johor Bahru and you’re looking for another mall to visit that isn’t City Square, keep reading. The Commune Lifestyle Mall is a new three-storey shopping centre in JB that’s a 45-minute drive from the Second Link, or 1 hour away from the Woodlands Checkpoint. We’ve compiled the 10 best food places in The Commune Lifestyle Mall JB, so all you need to do is save this list for the next time you’re crossing the border!

1. Chagee Drive Thru

Good news for bubble tea fans: You can find JB’s first Chagee drive-thru here at The Commune Lifestyle Mall! There’s no need to find a parking lot just to get your Chagee fix; simply head to the drive-thru and place your order. You’ll find signature beverages such as Jasmine Green Milk Tea (RM 11.90/RM 13.90) and Tie Guan Yin Milk Tea (RM 14.90/RM 16.90). If you’d like something more refreshing, order the Ceylon Lemon Black Tea (RM 13.90) instead.

2. Burger King


You’ll also find a Burger King drive-thru here, right next to Chagee, so you can have a complete feast without stepping out of the car! Check out their Kongsi Bundles which are perfect for sharing if you’re visiting with family or friends. The Kongsi C set (RM 36.90), great for four people, comes with two Whopper Jr, two cheeseburgers, two large fries, eight chicken nuggets with cheese sauce, and four soft drinks. Alternatively, if you’re here with a friend, they have bundles for two people too, priced from RM 26.90.

3.  Richeese Factory

Popular Malaysian fast food chain Richeese Factory is known for their fried chicken, available in combo meals. Those who can take space can try their Fire Chicken, where crispy fried chicken is coated in a sweet-sticky BBQ glaze and served with the brand’s signature cheese sauce. You also get to choose your level of spice, from 0 to 5. Two pieces of this will set you back RM 16.99. Their Flying Chicken is equally popular; you get fried chicken sprinkled with Spicy Volcano powder, served with the same cheese sauce. There’s a non-spicy option, too!

4. Coffee Over Chaos

Grab a caffeinated pick-me-up at Coffee Over Chaos, a casual cafe at The Commune Lifestyle Mall in JB. Besides the usual Flat White (RM 8.90) and Mocha (RM 8.90), they offer a small selection of lesser-seen brews such as Peanut Butter Latte (RM 10.90) and Orange Americano (RM 9.90). Their matcha menu is not to be missed too, with highlights including the trendy Strawberry Matcha (RM 10.90) and Dirty Matcha (RM 10.90): matcha latte with a shot of espresso.

5. Bingxue


Hailing from China, Bingxue has over 3,000 outlets worldwide, including one at The Commune. You can get their famous Matcha Ice Cream here, priced at just RM 1.99 per serving. If you’re not big on matcha, try the Bingxue Ice Cream (RM 1.99) instead, which features vanilla soft serve. While you’re there, don’t miss out on their affordable beverages: Brown Sugar Bubble Tea (RM 5.50/RM 7), Lemon Black Tea (RM 3.99) and more.

6. RotiCoffee

If you’re running errands at the mall, make a pitstop at RotiCoffee, a local chain known for their freshly baked roti buns. You won’t break the bank with their Value Combo, which comes with a bun and a cup of coffee for just RM 9.90. For your drink, you get to pick between a latte and a cappuccino. Their RotiCoffee (price TBD) is said to be crispy on the outside with a fragrant coffee flavour, complemented by a buttery middle.

7. Dekori Premium Cafe

Cool down from the afternoon heat with an icy treat at Dekori Premium Cafe, a cosy dessert spot at the mall. Fans love their kakigori AKA Japanese shaved ice dessert, which comes in an assortment of flavours: Mango Cheese (RM 19.90), Matcha (RM 21.90), Thai Milk Tea (RM 21.90), Strawberry Yogurt (RM 26.90) and more. If you’re feeling peckish, the cafe also offers a small selection of savoury bites such as Soy Garlic Chicken Popcorn (RM 16.90) and Chicken Ham Egg Sandwich (RM 14.90).

8. Guoma Seafood Express

For a hearty yet affordable steamboat lunch or dinner, consider Guoma Seafood Express. The casual hotpot restaurant has a value-for-money all-day set at just RM29.90++, which includes a soup, a vegetable platter, a main course, a starter, a drink, and a dessert. For your soup, you can choose from eight flavours, including Taiwanese Spicy Soup, Pumpkin Milk Soup, Tomato Soup, and Herbal Soup. If the set meal isn’t enough, consider topping up with extra ingredients, priced from just RM 4.90 per portion.

9. Kenangan Coffee


Famous Indonesian coffee chain Kenangan Coffee has set up shop at The Commune. Their Iced Avocado Coffee (RM 14.90/RM 16.90) is a must-try; this creamy beverage stars avocado, milk, and freshly pulled espresso. Otherwise, go for their Kenangan Latte (from RM 10.90), which features a regular latte blended with black aren—a natural sweetener similar to gula melaka, but with a stronger caramel flavour. Those who don’t drink coffee can check out their ice-shaken tea series instead!

10. Hwa Thai Supermarket

Right before you leave the mall, stock up on your fresh groceries and pantry staples at Hwa Thai Supermarket. This supermarket chain, which has multiple outlets across Malaysia, is well-loved for its wide range of affordable and high-quality household goods. You’ll find everything from ready-to-eat snacks to daily essentials such as shampoo and laundry detergent. There’s even a seafood section stocked with fresh fish!
