New Tipo Osteria Opens In Bendemeer With An Expanded Italian Menu

Tipo Osteria opens in Bendemeer

The Muslim-owned Tipo brand has become quite the force to reckon with, from their OG DIY pasta outfit in Aliwal Street sporting regular full houses, and their latest Bugis concept, Tipo Gnocchi, garnering rave reviews. Good news for fans, there’s now a new entrant into the Tipo brand, Tipo Osteria, which has recently opened along Bendemeer’s Hamilton Road.

Tipo Osteria is a departure from the DIY menu the brand has made its name upon. This time, they’re sticking to a classic Italian osteria format, with a menu divided into antipasti, primi, secondi, and dolce.

The pasta dishes you know and love from Tipo Pasta Bar will still be here, but they’ll share space with a seasonal selection of dishes, as well as house-made bakes and pastries.

If you’re planning to head down, here’s what to expect.

Starters are priced around and under $15, with Italian classics and remixes such as the Lasagne Fritta ($15++),  of deep-fried lasagna cubes.

Another starter we enjoyed was the Salmone ($15++), starring house-cured salmon served with lemon mascarpone.

There are salads to choose from as well, if you’d like to have greens with your meal.

Else, go for the Primi selection, which includes familiar faves such as the Duck Mousse Ravioli ($24++), topped with a rich duck broth.

Risotto fans should try the Chicken Risotto ($20++), made with seared chicken breast, and creamy risotto served atop a bed of fresh greens.

In true Italian fashion, pasta is followed by a meat or seafood main course. The Chicken Cotoletta ($30++) is worth saving stomach space for—a fried chicken cutlet is served with a zesty Italian slaw, parmesan cheese and a sharp mustard sauce.

Don’t skip dessert here: the Tiramisu ($12++) is delicious and sports pronounced coffee notes, while the Olive Oil Cake ($12++) is another delight, glazed with a non-alcoholic limoncello syrup.

Tipo Osteria’s interiors are warm and inviting, with tiled floors, light wood, and mood lighting throughout the space. There’s an open counter where the day’s bakes are displayed, offering a wider window into the bustling Tipo Osteria kitchen.

If you want to be able to be sure to bag a table at Tipo Osteria, you can make reservations here.
