Tsukimi Hamburg: Popular Japanese Hamburg Steak House Now Open In Hougang Mall

Tsukimi Hamburg opens in Hougang

Tsukimi Hamburg is a Japanese restaurant that’s famous for serving up mouthwatering hamburg steaks, and they recently opened their first outlet in Jurong Point. For North-East residents, the good news is that their newest outlet is now open at Hougang Mall!

The Hamburg steak is believed to have been brought to Japan via Yokohama during the Meiji period, growing in popularity during the 1960s as a more cost-effective way to serve meat; it typically sees filler ingredients of panko, onion, and egg. Known as ăƒăƒłăƒăƒŒă‚°(hanbāgu), this yƍshoku dish is now an iconic dish in Japan. What’s unique about the Hamburg steaks here is that the patties are shaped by hand using a house-concocted ratio of beef, pork, and Miyazaki Wagyu beef, resulting in a rich and juicy flavour.

A must-try at Tsukimi Hamburg is their signature dish, the Tsumiki Hamburg Don ($12.80++), starring the patty topped with grated radish and a creamy egg yolk that’s specially air-flown from Japan, helping to tie the flavours of the dish together.

Additionally, these components are served with Hitomebore rice that’s imported from Tohoru, Japan. This variety of rice is known for its sticky texture and sweet flavour. Drizzle over some of the provided sauce for that added savoury oomph in your rice. Each don also comes with their Homemade Tamago Soup (U.P. $2++).

For those who prefer spicy options, they also offer rice bowls such as Spicy Nanban Miso Hamburg Don (U.P. $11.80++), featuring a green chilli-infused miso topping, and the Spicy Sakura Ebi Hamburg Don (U.P. $11.80++), drizzled with garlic chilli oil.

Alternatively, you can explore their teishoku series, which boasts the steaks on a sizzling hotplate. Choices include the Foie Gras Hamburg Steak ($19.80++) and Raclette Cheez Hamburg Steak Teishoku ($16.80++). Each teishoku comes with side dishes of pickles, salad, tamago soup, and Japanese rice.
